Background / History
Tang San is Tang Hao's son and Tang Lan's younger brother. In Holy Soul Village, he practices the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer and forges hidden-weapon components, but begins to feel inferior after Tang Lan comprehends the same hammer technique at a glance 4 7.
Tang Lan teaches him an incomplete version of the Nine Yang Divine Skill. Tang San becomes dissatisfied when only part of the method is shared, while concealing the complete Mysterious Heaven Skill from Tang Hao 6. The Nine Yang inner force later contaminates Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Skill with a yang attribute, leaving him unable to remove it easily 7.
At Notting Junior Spirit Master Academy, Tang San agrees to support his tuition by working at a blacksmith's shop. Tang Lan enrolls him in the work-study program and urges him to keep his Innate Full Soul Power secret 10.
Tang Lan later founds the Tang Sect and appoints Tang San its First Disciple. Tang San subsequently declines an offer to take over the sect, instead requesting the position of Vice Sect Leader and permission to establish the Hidden Weapon Hall 35 44.
Personality
Tang San is determined to improve himself and is willing to work, fight, research, and take major risks for greater power. His enthusiasm for hidden weapons and explosives leads him to focus on developing new Tang Sect armaments, partly because he wants to be known for himself rather than merely as Tang Lan's younger brother 44 135.
He is repeatedly portrayed as jealous of Tang Lan's opportunities and resources. He covets soul bones, immortal herbs, Domains, and powerful Soul Spirits, and his impatience or incompatible choices frequently endanger him 61 117 183 185 275 338. Despite friction between them, he relies heavily on Tang Lan's protection and guidance 54 185 241.
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass Spirit
Tang San's Blue Silver Grass manifests with five soul rings—white, yellow, black, red, and black—after his advancement to Soul King 243.
- His Fifth Soul Skill launches extremely fast lightning through Blue Silver Grass; it combines lightning with frost-induced slowing and soul-burning effects from his fourth soul skills 243.
- Frost Touch slows targets through frost 243.
- Soul Lash inflicts a burning sensation on the soul 243.
- His Seventh Soul Ring produces a Blue Silver Grass Spirit Avatar in Tang San's image, though its displayed effect is considered far weaker than the original 100,000-year-ring version 356.
- Thorny Lightning fires Blue Silver Grass like lightning, but a Level 87 Soul Douluo cuts through it with ease 381.
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San wields a hammer martial soul and trains in the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer technique 4 7.
- A hammer strike later reaches power comparable to Level 95–96, according to Tang Hao 117.
- He asks Tang Lan to teach him additional techniques after witnessing Tang Lan's enhanced combat power 117.
Hidden-Weapon Crafting
Tang San is a skilled blacksmith and hidden-weapon researcher.
- Forges hidden-weapon parts while remaining in Holy Soul Village 7.
- Plans to combine hidden weapons with firearms to create a new Tang Sect signature weapon 135.
- Proposes using gunpowder to recreate the explosive component required for the Wrath of the Buddha Tang Lotus 44.
- Suggests that the Barrett Sniper Rifle should target vital points from long range 35.
Mental Perception
Tang San can see through at least some concealment-based soul bone skills.
- Tang Lan identifies him as one of the few Tang Sect members capable of seeing through Ning Rongrong's 20,000-year pseudo-domain soul bone skill 276.

Relationships

- Tang Hao — Father. Tang San is awed by Tang Hao's strength, but Tang Hao regularly sides with and protects Tang Lan during their disputes 115 117.
