The silent movement and surprise attack from behind left Quill completely unable to react.
Just as the enormous spike of light was about to pierce Quill's chest in the next instant, a figure suddenly appeared behind him.
A streak of Golden Light then appeared, moving even faster than the spike of light as it slashed through the air.
Yet the enormous white spike of light, fifteen meters long and solid enough to pierce an armored tank and twist a heavy truck into scrap metal, was abruptly severed in the middle.
The sharp tip, still carrying tremendous momentum, was violently shaken by the Golden Light the next instant, transforming into countless specks of energy dust before dispersing into the air.
"You need to be a little more rational too, Ego."
A loud voice came from behind Quill.
Only then did Quill sense something unusual behind him. An excited smile appeared on his face. "Boss, you're here!!"
Leo slowly stepped out from behind him, Dragon Blade in hand.
"Quill, you should have made your decision by now."
Standing beside Quill, Leo looked at him as he spoke, without even sparing Ego a proper glance.
"Kill this old lunatic!! He killed my mother!!"
Quill's eyes blazed with fury. There was no trace left of the deep father-son affection he had shown earlier.
Ego looked at Leo before him and the furious Quill, and he too was filled with rage.
"I originally wanted to complete this plan with you, but now it seems that for the next thousand years, you can only become my battery!!"
"As for all of you, you'll die. Everyone on Earth will disappear along with you."
Ego shouted at the two of them as well.
