Zhang Chen had barely stepped out into the courtyard when he understood why the servants were making such a clamor. The water they had drawn was crimson as blood, its stench assaulting the nostrils.
"Great Lord, the well is bleeding!" A servant saw Zhang Chen emerge and hurried forward to report.
"The well is bleeding?" Zhang Chen froze at the words. How could a well bleed?
Zhang Chen hurried forward and saw a group of servants gathered around the buckets by the well, crying out in alarm. Before he even approached, the reeking stench had already reached him—the smell of rotting blood.
"Make way! Great Lord is here!" the steward barked. The servants immediately scattered and stood respectfully to one side.
A steward stepped forward and said respectfully, "My lord, the water from the well suddenly turned to blood. I fear we have provoked some Evil Being. Please make a decision, Great Lord."
