The living room, lit by only a single candle, was silent as if frozen solid.

Several seconds later, Fat Apothecary muttered, "Why didn't you leave an address? That way, I could still get something off your corpse."

Alice, who knew Klein's address, had to admit that for a moment, she had been tempted.

Pretending not to understand, Klein looked at Black Snake and said, "If I don't gamble, I have no chance of surviving. If I do, at least there's a little hope. I won't sit here and wait for death to come."

Upon hearing that, Old Gentleman Eye of Wisdom closed his opened mouth again.

"I admire that kind of personality!" Black Snake laughed heartily.

"I admire it too. Several of my old friends had that kind of personality. Now, every year, I go put a bouquet of flowers before their gravestones," Fat Apothecary mocked again.

If Old Gentleman Eye of Wisdom hadn't been there, Black Snake might have gone to block his path afterward... Then again, perhaps Black Snake would not get the chance.
