Fool

Klein entered the Castle of Origin.

Although his original plan had been to go to St. Samuel's Church after leaving Alice, Alice's reaction had been far too amusing. Klein climbed into the Castle of Origin and burst into unrestrained laughter in the empty palace.

He laughed heartily, not even caring when Worms of Spirit crawled out of his face. If he had not wanted to preserve a shred of dignity, Klein felt that he might very well have rolled around on the floor.

—Alice's reaction had been far too funny.

That look of exasperation at someone failing to live up to expectations, that mixture of shock and fury—both made Klein want to laugh.

Amon's declaration that He would help did not seem to have been a joke. After learning that the respected Mr. Fool did not need Him personally to appear in this story, Amon found another approach, providing Klein with countless stories of the Amon Family and many different versions of Amon's image.

This gave Klein plenty of inspiration. Moreover, while exchanging those things, it was impossible for him and Amon not to say anything. Even if Klein said nothing, Amon would speak. Through their back-and-forth exchanges, Klein had indeed realized that if Amon were not so reckless and willful, they might even have become friends.

But Klein still had a brain. He knew clearly that Amon's current caution was only due to His restricted strength. If He became the Lord of Mysteries, Earth would likely be no more than a slightly larger toy to Him. Klein would never give Amon any opening—such as being together with Amon.

Although a certain Angel of Time had indeed suggested that they make the act real... when He made the suggestion, He had worn the smile of someone whose prank had succeeded.
