Alice was furious.

She was smiling, but her eyes were practically sparking. Audrey sensed the anger threatening to spill out of her and, for a moment, did not dare speak.

After cursing Mr. Fool a couple of times, Alice managed to calm down a little. She looked at Audrey and, after a moment of silence, said:

"...You know what I'm going to say, right?

"What happened today..."

"Should I hypnotize myself into forgetting it?" Audrey asked tentatively.

Alice gave a hum and looked up at her. Audrey immediately began hypnotizing herself. Alice said nothing throughout, simply watching until Audrey finished and left.

Only then did Alice let out a cold laugh and sit quietly in the room.

She did not go looking for Klein yet. His situation was different from hers: the Key of Light was far away on the Western Continent, while Sefirah Castle was with him. Becoming a god was not the end for him. He still needed to accommodate Sefirah Castle, or at least quiet it for the time being.

With the Apocalypse approaching, the Lord of Mysteries' will had grown extremely faint. Furious as Alice was when she realized Klein had become a god by fooling her, it also told her that he was probably in good shape.

He had avoided the Mystery Attendant characteristic that belonged directly to the Lord of Mysteries. Instead, he had accommodated Zaratul's first, and only faced Antigonus after fully digesting two Mystery Attendant characteristics.

With no other candidates to back, the Orthodox Gods and evil gods alike seemed to have reached a reluctant consensus. They all needed a Lord of Mysteries, and everyone else had lost the right to compete. No one would make trouble for the future Lord of Mysteries at a moment as crucial as his Deification Ritual.
