Background / History
Nalan Yanran was raised in the Misty Cloud Sect as Yun Yun's disciple. At eight years old, she displayed exceptional promise by reaching sixth-stage Dou Qi and receiving a Heaven-grade assessment. Even then, she rejected the marriage arrangement made between the Nalan and Xiao families, insisting that her future husband and her life were her own choices. Yun Yun supported her position and urged her to become strong enough that no elder could dictate her future. 22
Yun Yun arranged for Yanran to face Qing Lin in a match three years later, turning the rivalry between their teachers into intense pressure on her disciple. Yanran endured Yun Yun's severe training and the sect's focused cultivation resources, reaching Six-Star Dou Zhe by the time of the duel. 30 42
Her battle with Qing Lin ended without a victor. Yanran fought with a longsword and exhausted all her Dou Qi on Extreme Wind: Skybreaker, while Qing Lin detonated her serpent phantom to block it.
