Background / History

Zi Yan gained consciousness alone in the deep mountains, where other magical beasts sometimes bullied her. After consuming Transformation Grass, she encountered Grand Elder Su Qian, who brought her into Canaan Academy's Inner Academy and gave her the name “Zi Yan.” Because the grass locked magical beasts below the sixth rank into human form, she obsessively sought energy-rich herbs to become strong enough to transform freely. 33 106

At Canaan Academy, Zi Yan became its notorious “little tyrant,” freely raiding the medicine garden while Su Qian quietly replaced what she took. Though often exasperated by her, Su Qian regarded her as family and was deeply attached to the liveliness she brought into his life. 33 106

Ao Qing found Zi Yan while she was searching the back mountain for herbs. He secretly protected her from a sixth-tier Earth Demon Spider, then revealed that they belonged to the same clan. Zi Yan agreed to cultivate with him only after securing the right to return to Canaan Academy whenever she wished. 34 35

Several Ancient Void Dragon elders later identified Zi Yan's exceptionally pure royal bloodline and familiar aura as Zhu Kun's. They concluded that she was Zhu Kun's daughter and formally welcomed her as the clan's princess. 59
