Background / History
Transmigration and Sect Childhood
Xu Mingxi was an unemployed university graduate and shut-in in his previous life. While taking a walk to escape relatives’ gossip, he was struck by an out-of-control truck and sent to Douluo Continent by the Heavenly Sovereign. He retained his former name and memories, having transmigrated while still in the womb 1.
His knowledge of Douluo II and Douluo I fanfiction helped him recognize the world, but he struggled to behave like a child. He concealed this by speaking little and initially preferred to remain unnoticed behind the accomplished Xu Mingguang. Information about Yu Xiaogang’s birth eventually established that he had arrived in the generation of Yu Xiaogang and Tang Hao, rather than Tang San’s 1.
The Star Crown Sect raised him through physical training, medicinal drinks, medicinal baths, and healing support. His awakening and unusual first soul skill changed his position: Star Calling had also been the first skill of the sect’s level-98 ancestor. The sect therefore chose to nurture Mingxi secretly while naming Mingguang Young Sect Master as his public shield 1 2 3 10.
Canghui Academy
After reaching Soul Elder, Mingxi left Starfall Mountain for Canghui Academy. Chao Yunting arranged an introduction to her elder sister, Chao Yunwan, while Xu Fangzhuo handled his enrollment. His cover records understated his talent, presenting him as a seventeen-year-old with innate rank-nine Soul Power 7 8 9.
He joined the Star Dou Class and school team, where his support effects complemented captain Luo Yun’s Starry Tiger Martial Soul. Despite his strong physical foundation, his neglected close-quarters training left him badly outmatched in their first spar. Luo Yun subsequently helped him improve through training and Soul Arena combat 9 10 12.
Luo Yun’s family connection to the Xu clan also secured Mingxi a place at a royal family banquet and substantial protection within Blue Sunshine City. Mingxi nevertheless asked Luo Yun to keep calling him by name rather than treating him as an uncle 11.
Independent Training and Succession
As a Soul King, Mingxi traveled to East Peak City, rescued Chen Qinghuang, and joined the Chen brothers’ Demon Tiger Adventure Team. He investigated local family alliances and used the Third Elder’s connection to Yuan Ting to expand the sect’s potential influence in the southeast 28 29 30 31 32.
An expedition into Awakening Cloud Ravine exposed how dependent he remained on powerful protectors. After surviving a near-fatal illusion, he separated from his grandfather and entered the Star Dou Great Forest to train with a soul-hunting mercenary group 36 37.
Three years later, he returned as a level-67 Battle Soul Emperor. His experience included obtaining his sixth ring and becoming an enemy of former teammate Giant Wing over a soul bone. The sect formally appointed him Young Sect Master, while Mingguang supported his succession and supplied connections he had cultivated throughout the southeast 37 39.
Divine Inheritance and the Sun Moon Continent
Mingxi deliberately developed the three lights of sun, moon, and stars rather than simply following the sect’s conventional control route. The Moon Gazing Toad introduced moonlight, the Moon Embracing Flower strengthened that attribute, and the Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower and Sun Flame Crow sacrifice introduced sunlight 20 25 44 52 53.
Two marks within him later pointed west toward the sea. On the Sun Moon Continent, he undertook trials associated with the Sun Moon Dual Gods, including learning to fuse moonlight and starlight into restraints capable of capturing powerful soul beasts 62 79 87.
Sun Moon Emperor Xu Zixlong pursued him for the inheritance. Mingxi held the emperor off so his accompanying elders could escape, but suffered severe injuries and facial disfigurement before fleeing into the Demon Forest. He reunited with the elders in Sea Capital six months later 87 88 89 90.
Before returning home, Mingxi and the elders raided Rising Sun City for Soul Tools and research materials, killed its city lord and research institute director, and destroyed nearly half the city. He subsequently obtained the Moon Worship Wolf King’s ring and head bone, becoming a Titled Douluo with Star Domain 92 96 97.
Continental Power Struggles
After returning to the Star Crown Sect, Mingxi prioritized Soul Tool development and the destruction of the Blue Silver Emperor’s inheritance opportunities. He regarded Tang San as his greatest immediate enemy and repeatedly sought to weaken his future potential while arranging for other powers to oppose Spirit Hall 62 90 102 104 117.
During the beast tide, he publicly revealed nine soul rings, including two 100,000-year rings, and fought the 280,000-year Demon Spirit. His performance forced other factions to reconsider the Star Crown Sect’s hidden strength 126.
He eventually secured the submission or cooperation of major Star Luo factions and took the imperial throne through Dai Feng’s abdication. Dai Feng became White Tiger Duke, while he and Xu Mingjie handled state affairs during Mingxi’s cultivation. Mingxi intended the throne to pass to Mingjie once his younger brother had sufficient strength 176 180 181.
As a Peerless Douluo, Mingxi organized an operation against Bo Saixi. Qian Daoliu and Bibi Dong initially supported him, but turned against him after his battle with Tang Chen weakened him. He survived Qian Daoliu’s fatal attack through Nothingness; Bibi Dong killed Qian Daoliu, and Mingxi later killed Tang Hao and buried Tang Chen with Bo Saixi 189 200 201 202 207.
Conquest and Ascension
Following the war, the Spirit Hall Empire was dismantled and its resources seized. Mingxi allowed the victorious factions to pressure the defeated but restrained excessive cruelty. The Star Crown Sect established Star God Halls across the continent to offer free Martial Soul awakenings and monitor potential threats 220.
He released Soul Tool blueprints to other powers, encouraging joint technological development. After sailing technology improved, he appointed Mingjie Regent Prince and led an expedition that conquered the Sun Moon Continent and made it a Star Luo vassal state 220.
Mingxi then returned to seclusion to complete his divine-power fusion. Mingjie eventually succeeded him as emperor, Mingguang became Star Crown Sect Master, and Mingxi ascended to godhood fifty years later 220.
Appearance
At twelve, Xu Mingxi is approximately 1.60 meters tall, with short golden hair and a handsome face. He jokingly compares his reflection to a blond delinquent 7.
- Golden eyes — Originally black; change after he consumes the Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower 52.
- Rough survival appearance — Returns from his three-year forest training with messy hair, an unkempt beard, dust-covered features, and tattered Soul Master clothing 37.
- Facial disfigurement and scarring — Survives Xu Zixlong’s pursuit with a disfigured face; a visible neck scar extends beneath his mask 90 102.
- Golden Mask — Worn in later appearances, including his reunion with Luo Yun 165.
- Star Crown manifestation — Its prominent gemstones shine in gold, silver, and golden-red after his Martial Soul’s development 87.
Personality
Mingxi begins withdrawn and reluctant to compete, partly because silence helps conceal his adult memories. His attachment to the sect grows as he experiences affectionate parents, supportive companions, and the satisfaction of becoming stronger. Protecting that life becomes a central motivation 1 5.
His increasing ambition is deliberate rather than impulsive. He studies suitable ring sources, cultivates political connections, and prioritizes godhood over romance. After the Awakening Cloud Ravine incident, he acknowledges his dependence on others and accepts prolonged independent danger as necessary training 6 22 25 32 36.
He remains affectionate toward family but becomes ruthless toward obstacles. His actions include destroying much of Rising Sun City, undermining Tang San’s opportunities, and killing Tang Hao. Nevertheless, he refuses to direct his hard-earned sharpness against the family and sect that raised him 37 62 92 207.

- Later summons sunlight as well as starlight 87.
- Can enhance Luo Yun’s Starry Tiger Martial Soul; an early test increases Luo Yun’s speed by approximately 40% 10.

Star Gathering — Second Soul Skill
- Condenses starlight into attacks; its initial demonstration pierces a distant tree 7.
- Attack speed, strength, and number increase with his cultivation 7.
- Can shape the gathered light into a blade rather than only firing a ray 27.
- Concealment: Shows outsiders a single-target attack called Star Light Ray 9.

- Limit: Requires intense mental control. Early constructs collapse when his concentration relaxes, and large-scale use leaves him exhausted 79.
Solar Soul Bone Techniques
- Great Sunny Day: Strengthens the sun’s brightness and ambient heat. Combined with Great Sun Across the Sky, transforms the battlefield into a solar environment 87.
- Sun Flame Crow Avatar: Creates a flame-composed crow with a trace of intelligence. Its strength scales with Mingxi’s, and it remains undying while his Soul Power lasts 87.
- Blazing Sun Cannon: Fires a powerful golden-red attack, used against Xu Zixlong, Rising Sun City, and Demon Spirit 87 92 126.
- Golden Crow Wings: Provides aerial mobility, allowing him to maintain distance while firing on opponents 126.

- The head bone neutralizes Demon Spirit’s soul-impact attack during the beast tide 126.
Silver Moon and Nothingness
- Silver Moon: His strongest amplification skill at the time of the Bo Saixi operation; enables him to rapidly defeat her 200.
- Nothingness: Allows him to avoid Qian Daoliu’s otherwise fatal blow 207.
Combat and Cultivation Support
- Favors ranged attacks, restraints, amplification, and flight over trading blows at close range 126.
- Improves his initially weak close-quarters technique through Luo Yun’s instruction and practical combat 10 12.
- Serves as the center of linked cultivation beneath the Starry Tree, distributing beneficial energy through the sect’s Star Power Fusion Method 21.
