Background / History

The Sun Moon Empire was historically disadvantaged in Soul Master talent compared with the Original Douluo Continent Three Kingdoms; powerful Martial Souls and high-level Soul Masters were comparatively scarce. Its leaders therefore placed exceptional importance on Soul Tool development, believing powerful Soul Tool Masters also required strong Soul Master foundations 1.

The empire maintained a technological blockade against the three kingdoms. Advanced civilian and military inventions—including soul-guided satellites, cars, and trains—were prohibited from public exposure abroad, preserving an outward appearance of relative backwardness while its actual technological lead widened 40.

Its government and noble class were divided between conservative figures content to preserve accumulated wealth and influence, and reform-minded figures such as Kong Deming, Jing Hongchen, and later Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong. Rise of Soul Tool Civilization

Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong backed the Sun Moon Empire as their chosen protector and proposed an organization modeled after the former Martial Soul Hall to provide free Martial Soul awakenings 3. Under their influence and Kong Deming's support, civilian Soul Tools rapidly spread despite noble resistance 96.

The successful soul-guided satellite launch marked a major national achievement. Jiang Shengyu received public credit for the initiative and was enfeoffed as the Celestial Moon Marquis, without a fiefdom 80 81.

Succession Crisis

The aging emperor's weakness and Kong Deming's unmatched influence destabilized the imperial succession. Xu Tianran feared Kong Deming might support another imperial relative, while Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong were considered potential successors 214 244.

After the Imperial Palace was bombed, Xu Tianran seized power, blamed the three original kingdoms, and declared war. Jiang Shengyu exposed evidence that Xu Tianran and Xu Tianyuan had planned the bombing 267. Xu Tianran was subsequently killed, and Jiang Shengyu was crowned emperor 269.

Continental Unification

The empire announced its intention to unify the continent and invited sects and academies to join it. The Tang Sect and Nine Treasures Glazed Tile School pledged cooperation, while Shrek Academy opposed the plan 266.

Its forces breached Yu Ming Pass, captured territory throughout the three original kingdoms, and brought the front line to Star Luo City. Abyssal Invasion and Final Transformation

The empire mobilized its Soul Engineer Corps and defenses when the Abyss threatened the Great Fiend Forest and its territory 317 318. Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong eventually absorbed Abyssal energy, reaching the First Level God realm 378.
