As the dismissal bell rang, the students scattered like a flock of birds, each heading home to find their mothers. Fang Zheng leaned back in his chair and stretched lazily, watching the scene with a grin. It reminded him of his own student days, when he'd wanted nothing more than for school to end so he could get as far away from it as possible.
But after entering society and looking back, Fang Zheng found that he didn't really want to leave school anymore. Especially after class, when wandering around campus had its own unique charm.
"Hey, Yuuki, Haruna and I are going to karaoke. Want to come with us?"
Just as Fang Zheng was leisurely packing up his things, Momioka Risa, Serenji Haruna's friend, called out to him. Fang Zheng had just been about to answer when his phone suddenly rang. He gestured for her to wait, then answered it.
"Hello? Mikana? What's wrong?"
"Big brother, this is bad!"
Mikana's voice quickly came through the phone.
"Something happened to Serinu!"
"Serinu? That flower? What happened to it?"
Hearing Mikana's words, Fang Zheng froze for a moment before remembering that Serinu was the plant Lala had given him before—the one that looked like some sort of alien man-eating flower. But hadn't it been doing fine all this time?
"Something's wrong with Serinu... Hurry back and take a look."
"Okay, got it. I'm coming back now."
Fang Zheng nodded, put away his phone, and waved to the others.
"Sorry, something came up at home. I need to get back and deal with it. Maybe next time."
After saying that, Fang Zheng greeted Haruna and the others, then left the school and quickly hurried home.
When Fang Zheng entered the courtyard, he saw everyone gathered there anxiously around the alien man-eating flower.
