According to the City Lord, someone in a nearby village had contracted Frenzied Flame sickness, a bizarre disease in which flames erupted from the infected person's eyes and drove them completely mad. Worse still, the condition was contagious. Well, that sounded far more terrifying than Resident Evil.
The village was actually located in the woods beyond the crumbling city walls they had passed earlier. After receiving the City Lord's directions, Fang Zheng mounted the Golden Steed and headed for it.
At first, there was nothing unusual nearby, but once he drew close to the village, strange things began to happen.
The first things to appear were several rats... Well, Fang Zheng was no longer afraid of these rat Lords of Cinder. The Golden Steed could crush them to death with a single kick. But the rats here were different from those elsewhere. Flames burned in both their eyes, making it seem as if their eyes had been formed from condensed fire!

A mere rat actually ignored Fang Zheng's Dragon Might, squeaking as it charged at him and tried to bite him—so Fang Zheng simply crushed it to death with one hand.
Unfortunately, there was too little flame inside the rat's body for Fang Zheng to sense anything. He had no choice but to continue onward.
When Fang Zheng reached the village entrance, the sight before him became even stranger.
