Background / History

Origin

Lu Wangchuan enters a world of martial cultivation in an original body whose aptitude is considered ordinary and whose previous owner had trained at the Dragon Tiger Martial Hall for two and a half years without notable results. His arrival grants him a Light Screen that displays his cultivation data and allows him to consume Blood Qi or Vitality to raise technique levels directly. 1

His early resources come largely from his elder sister, Lu Xiaoqin, while his household consists of the coachman Xiao Wu and maidservant Xiao Yue, both refugees previously taken in by the Lu family. 2

Much later, Lu Wangchuan learns that the original body’s former incarnation was Mingchen Great Emperor. He absorbs the residual memories and power of this past life, but ultimately rejects being defined by either Emperor Yu or Mingchen, publicly declaring that he is simply Lu Wangchuan. 117 128

Dragon Tiger Martial Hall

At the Dragon Tiger Martial Hall, Lu Wangchuan becomes a student of Lu Xianyuan. He purchases Lu Xianyuan’s Body Strengthening Soup recipe for one hundred taels, but pays three hundred taels to establish goodwill and demonstrate gratitude. 2

Lu Xianyuan later protects him from bullying disciples, provides him with the extraordinary Limitless Sword Dao, writes a recommendation to the Divine Water Sect, and secretly commissions the Godslayer Sword for him. When Jianghai City falls toward chaos amid the Black Lotus Society’s uprising, Lu Wangchuan sends Xiao Wu and Xiao Yue to Lu Xiaoqin for safety, then leaves the Mortal World for the Divine Water Sect. 12 13

Lu Wangchuan eventually returns to Blue Star, the home of his prior life, where he visits the graves of his parents, Lin Feng and Zhou Haimei; his elder sister, Lin Yue; and his brother-in-law, Zheng Sixiong. Lu Wangchuan is intensely pragmatic. His primary goal is survival through strength, and he consistently avoids intervening in conflicts that do not concern him unless they threaten his people, resources, or future security. He refuses to involve himself in Jianghai City’s war because he sees a rotten dynasty’s collapse as beyond one person’s responsibility. 12

He is patient, secretive, and highly conscious of the danger posed by public attention. He routinely conceals his actual cultivation, uses aliases, disguises himself at auctions, and avoids revealing valuable techniques or treasures unless necessary. 8 28 55 113
