Organization
Leadership and Disciple Ranks
- Zhao family succession: The Sect Leader’s position belongs to the Zhao family’s inherited sect leadership. Zhao Yanlong is its Young Master, not the incumbent Sect Leader 59 75 78.
- Elder leadership: The sect has a Grand Elder and numbered elders, alongside hall leadership such as Cheng Yunxiao of the Law Enforcement Hall 54 75 85.
- Peak masters: Individual peaks have their own masters. Holding this position grants additional cultivation resources 22 41.
- Disciple hierarchy: Resources are allocated by status, with true disciples above core, elite, and ordinary disciples 22.
- Generational standing: Lu Wangchuan enters as a third-generation core disciple of the Law Enforcement Hall 22.
Recruitment and Rules
- Applicants must be at least in the Tendons and Membranes Realm to enter 20.
- The mountain gate includes an area for reviewing prospective disciples. When Lu Wangchuan arrives in the evening, admission has closed and applicants must wait outside 21.
- Service to the sect earns resource rewards; Lu Wangchuan is rewarded for exposing attacks on prospective recruits 26.
- Sect rules require members to turn over a portion of privately seized treasures under the circumstances described during Lu Wangchuan’s campaign against the Heavenly Martial Sect 48.
- Disciplinary authority also restricts personal retaliation. While Li Tianxiang remains a member, Lu Wangchuan considers his punishment a matter for the sect to handle 54.
Facilities and Cultivation Resources
| Facility / Resource | Function |
|---|---|
| Natural spiritual veins | Supply dense spiritual energy. Even the area outside the mountain gate offers better cultivation conditions than the mundane world 21 23. |
| Library Pavilion | Houses cultivation methods, handbooks, and martial arts materials across multiple floors. Its introductory methods greatly exceed the Mountain Splitting Fist taught at Dragon Tiger Martial Hall 23. |
| Law Enforcement Hall | Cheng Yunxiao’s hall and Lu Wangchuan’s initial assignment; its disciples escort him into the sect and guide his admission 21 22. |
| Resource Hall | Distributes resources and service rewards 26 41. |
| Still Water Peak | Passes from Yun Mengyao to Lu Wangchuan after her defeat. Its best cave dwelling is especially suited to drawing energy from the sect’s spiritual vein 22 41. |
| Expert instruction | Senior cultivators provide lectures based on their cultivation and combat experience, including Cheng Yunxiao’s teaching 26. |
Cultivation Arts
- Prajna Dragon Elephant: A founding ancestor recovered this incomplete art from battlefield ruins. Although classified as a peak Forbidden Technique, it is a remnant of a stronger True Method 54.
- Both Zhao Yanlong and Lu Wangchuan cultivate it 33 59.
- Its perfected form is described as surpassing ordinary True Methods while consuming less spiritual energy 59.
- Spirit Void Step: A Forbidden-level movement technique obtained by Lu Wangchuan through the sect’s Library Pavilion 42.
- True Laws: The sect initially possesses only a handful, mostly of lower grades. Lu Wangchuan later supplies additional True Laws for sale 76.
Strength and Limitations
| Aspect | Documented Standing |
|---|---|
| Position in Da Qian | A top-level force among Da Qian’s seven sects and twelve factions 21. |
| Sect Leader and Grand Elder | Both are Other Shore Realm cultivators by the time of the Da Qin royal delegation’s visit 85. |
| Outstanding younger generation | Zhao Yanlong and Lu Wangchuan are known as the Divine Water Twins. Lu Wangchuan later decisively surpasses Zhao Yanlong 59. |
| Mystic Realm protection | Lu Wangchuan becomes powerful enough to defend the sect and aid its members from thousands of miles away 83 84 85. |
| Normal resource ceiling | The sect can generally support cultivation to the Other Shore Realm, or possibly the first Mystic Realm level, Condensing Origin. Higher cultivation demands resources beyond its ordinary reach 105. |
- Its strength is substantial within Da Qian, but it is not among the strongest sects of the Great Wilderness 41.
- Lu Wangchuan’s power exceeds the institution’s normal capabilities: when he draws spiritual energy for an attack, other disciples temporarily cannot absorb any for themselves 84.
- Limited territory and weaker forces make acquiring high-level resources difficult; obtaining valuable materials can also attract stronger rivals 105.
History
Lu Wangchuan’s Admission
Lu Wangchuan reaches the sect carrying a letter for Elder Cheng. While waiting outside its closed gates, he discovers Black Lotus Society members murdering prospective recruits and kills the attackers. The next morning, he pays a disciple to deliver his letter and is escorted inside by Chen Qingquan 21.
Cheng Yunxiao accepts him into the Law Enforcement Hall as a third-generation core disciple, gives him two valuable pills, and learns of the attacks. Lu Wangchuan also discovers that Yun Mengyao now holds Still Water Peak and resolves to reclaim it for his master, Lu Xianyuan 22.
War with the Heavenly Martial Sect
The Black Lotus Society killings prove to be an attempt by the Heavenly Martial Sect to suppress recruitment and weaken the Divine Water Sect’s influence. Cheng Yunxiao captures senior Black Lotus Society members, publicly condemns the scheme, and rewards Lu Wangchuan for uncovering it 26.
The conflict escalates into rescue missions and fighting across several cities. A rescue force suffers near-annihilation after disciple Li Deyou defects and helps lead its members into an ambush. Lu Wangchuan protects Chen Qingquan’s escape 33 34. Later, Li Tianxiang offers intelligence on the sect’s defenses to a Heavenly Martial Sect elder in exchange for help killing Lu Wangchuan 48 49.
After defeating Yun Mengyao, Lu Wangchuan takes control of Still Water Peak and receives support from Law Enforcement Hall elders. He subsequently undertakes a rewarded mission against Heavenly Martial Sect forces operating in the cities 41 42 43.
Three-Sect Alliance and Entry into Da Qin
The Jade Maiden Sect joins the Heavenly Martial Sect against Divine Water. Their heirs, Dugu Yu’er and Zhuo Xiyuan, attempt to kill Zhao Yanlong and divide Chu Zhou between their sects. Lu Wangchuan intervenes, rescuing Zhao Yanlong and defeating the attackers 59 60.
Zhao Yanlong’s marriage alliance with the Divine Pillar Sect leader’s second daughter brings that sect into the war. Together with the Black Tortoise Sect, the alliance destroys the Heavenly Martial and Jade Maiden sects. Da Qian’s surviving major sects are reduced to five, divided into opposing blocs 61.
Divine Water, Divine Pillar, and Black Tortoise subsequently join the Da Qin Dynasty. Divine Water disciples begin organizing paid teams to guide cultivators into the Ancient Battlefield Ruins 67 68.
Protection and Commerce
When Lu Wangchuan returns, Cheng Yunxiao reveals that the sect has concealed his responsibility for killing Great Zhou’s Fifth Prince, attributing the deed publicly to an unnamed elder. This protects him from imperial jealousy or attempts to exploit his bloodline 75.
The Sect Leader offers him unrestricted support, resources equal to his own, and even the leadership position. Lu Wangchuan declines succession but keeps Still Water Peak and arranges for the sect to sell his surplus resources and procure cultivation materials 75.
Sales of pills, spirit stones, and True Laws attract increasing attention, including inquiries from Da Qin’s imperial family. The court purchases two True Laws 76. Later, Lu Wangchuan destroys the Flame Sword Sect over unpaid pill debts and remotely saves Sect Leader Zhao’s force from Northern Mang reinforcements 84 85.
Lu Wangchuan’s Departure
An attack by Western Xia vassal kings during a Da Qin royal visit forces Lu Wangchuan to reveal himself as the sect’s Mystic Realm protector 85. After he becomes the Heaven One Divine Sect’s First Divine Son, other sects prepare gifts to congratulate him at Divine Water 88 89.
Lu Wangchuan offers to take his associates with him, fearing retaliation against those left behind. The Sect Leader, Grand Elder, and Lu Xianyuan choose to remain. They instead propose sending talented disciples to Heaven One in the future. Lu Wangchuan also proposes a spatial teleportation array connecting Divine Water with the Great Qin Imperial City for their safety 89 90.
