Background / History

Zhao Gang obtained the Qinglin Sword, together with a long-lost martial arts manual, from an ancient ruin during his travels. He later left the sword and the Eight Swords of Lightness in his cave chamber as an inheritance for his descendants. 10

Mu Bai discovered the sword in Zhao Gang’s skeletal hand on White Deer Mountain. Although not a Zhao descendant, Mu Bai swore to continue Zhao Gang’s martial path and eventually pass the legacy on to the Zhao Family. When he took the sword, a chill and faint sword intent entered his body; a casual swing cut grooves into the chamber’s stone walls. 10

The sword became Mu Bai’s primary weapon as he learned and applied the Eight Swords of Lightness. It accompanied his breakthrough with the Fifth Sword, Tornado Rain Strike, and remained central to his later Starlight Sword Art battles. 29 115 174

After Mu Bai brought it out of the Martial Dao World, the Qinglin Sword was lost in spatial turbulence. It eventually fell near the Blood Robe Tribe in the Demon Realm and remained buried until a Demonic Crystal Demon Race being awakened and unearthed it. By then, the blade was badly corroded and broken in several places. 298

The being—later identified as the Crystal Core King—recognized that the sword retained an aura and Rule Imprints from an unknown world. He used the broken Qinglin Sword to expose Mu Bai’s identity as an outsider from the Martial Dao World. 299 316

During Mu Bai’s confrontation with the Crystal Core King, the Xuanyuan Sword Master’s phantom rescued Mu Bai and took the broken Qinglin Sword with him as they escaped the collapsing crystal Domain. 319

Appearance

The Qinglin Sword was originally an ancient yet functional longsword with a simple, unadorned appearance. After its loss in spatial turbulence, it was reduced to a rusted and fragmented remnant. 10 298

Its condition deteriorated catastrophically after it was lost in spatial turbulence. When rediscovered, it was devoid of spiritual energy, mottled with rust, and broken in multiple places. 298

• Mu Bai used Clouds Roll, Clouds Unfurl to pierce Master Dehua’s shoulder despite his own severe injuries. 22
