Tsunade spent years wandering and gambling rather than remaining in Konoha. In the Land of Cedar and Land of Tea casinos, her extraordinarily bad luck leaves her deeply indebted; she reaches a debt of 600,000 and initially plans to evade the collectors rather than repay them 77 78. Despite this, she refuses to harm ordinary debt collectors, even when fleeing would be easy for her and Shizune 78.

Hidezawa, Shisui, and Yugao are sent to locate and return her to Konoha. Their search becomes entangled with the Fourth Raikage, who pressures Tsunade to provide medical treatment for his subordinate.
