Chapter 2: Xiao Wu's Family

The Sky Azure Bull Python's actions were undoubtedly a warning to Rota. After all, it was hardly appropriate for a human of unknown strength to suddenly appear beside him and Er Ming.

The Sky Azure Bull Python was no reckless brute. He would not attack at the slightest disagreement, especially since he had sensed no hostility from Rota.

"How scary... You're practically a monster!" Rota raised both hands in mock fear to signal surrender.

Fighting the Sky Azure Bull Python would not benefit Rota in any way. If he could avoid trouble, why go out of his way to make more?

"You're Borsalino, correct? You are the most unusual human I have ever seen. Why have you come here? Please tell us."

"My purpose? Well, I got lost and don't know how to get out. I wanted to ask for directions." Rota scratched his head and answered helplessly.

"Lost? I do not quite believe that reason, but since you bear no ill intent, I will not make things difficult for you. However, if you wish to leave, you must agree to one condition." The Sky Azure Bull Python's voice carried a trace of pressure.

"What is it? Go ahead."

If agreeing to one condition could solve the problem, that would certainly be a good thing. At least it would save him a lot of trouble.

"Once you leave, you must not reveal any information about us. Can you agree to that?"

"Of course, no problem. If that's all it is, don't worry!"

"Big Brother, this human's way of talking is really begging for a beating. Can he really be trusted?"

Hearing the Titan Giant Ape say that, Rota almost wanted to cry. This is just how Uncle Kizaru talks. This is too hard for me.

"I trust my judgment. One cannot judge a person by appearance, though this human does look rather unfortunate."

Rota was speechless. Why was even the Sky Azure Bull Python saying that about him...

"Sorry. You need not take our Soul Beast standards of beauty too seriously," the Sky Azure Bull Python specifically explained.

Rota knew full well what Uncle Kizaru looked like, so he could understand why all this was happening.

"Alright, Second Brother. Take him out."

Though the Titan Giant Ape was deeply unwilling, he had no choice. It was not easy for him to disobey his big brother's request.

"Then thank you, little ape!" Rota's casual remark nearly enraged the Titan Giant Ape. If the Sky Azure Bull Python had not been watching from the side, the Titan Giant Ape might have exploded on the spot from anger.

"Human, stay close. If you fall behind, you can spend the rest of your life in the Star Dou Great Forest!"

Without another word, the Titan Giant Ape dashed straight ahead. Despite his enormous body, his speed was no joke.

In an instant, the Titan Giant Ape vanished without a trace, leaving Rota and the Sky Azure Bull Python where they stood.

"What, you're not going after him?" The Sky Azure Bull Python looked teasingly at the man before him named Borsalino.

Although Borsalino always gave him the impression of being utterly unmotivated, his instincts told him that this human was not weak.

"No rush, no rush. I'll go once the little ape gets out."

The Sky Azure Bull Python was left utterly bewildered by those words. This was not the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest; one could not simply walk out whenever one pleased. Without guidance, one would likely remain lost in the forest forever.

Seeing that Borsalino had no intention of moving, the Sky Azure Bull Python simply stopped bothering with him. He had done all he could.

Just then, a childlike voice came from afar.

"Da Ming, Er Ming, Mommy and I are back~"

As soon as the words fell, one large and one small figure appeared in the distance. The smaller figure was likely the one who had spoken.

Rota had guessed correctly. This should be Xiao Wu and her mother. Little Xiao Wu was truly bursting with energy, completely unlike an old man like him.

Without realizing it, Rota had gotten far too immersed in the role!

Xiao Wu had already climbed onto the Sky Azure Bull Python's head and laughed happily.

"Da Ming, who is this gentleman?" Xiao Wu's mother was the first to notice Kizaru and asked the Sky Azure Bull Python beside her.

"Him? He is a lost human named Borsalino. I had Er Ming guide him out, but for some reason, he has remained here."

After hearing this, Xiao Wu's mother carefully examined Borsalino. The human before her was frighteningly tall—calling him a monster would not have been an exaggeration.

"Hello, Mr. Borsalino!"

Seeing Xiao Wu's mother take the initiative to greet him, Rota felt that he could not be too rude.

"Hello, beautiful lady!"

"May I ask how you became lost in the depths of the Star Dou Great Forest?"

Xiao Wu's mother had gained a favorable impression of Borsalino's polite response. In her understanding, humans who encountered Soul Beasts were always eager to kill them for Soul Rings. It was her first time seeing someone like Borsalino who greeted them instead.

"Well, I can only say that I got lost due to a momentary mistake. I didn't expect it to become this troublesome, hahaha." Rota laughed.

"I see. Then you really were too careless." Xiao Wu's mother was also surprised. Did such strange humans truly exist?

"Uncle, why do you look so much like a monkey?"

There was no need to think about it—that had definitely come from Xiao Wu, that little brat. But Rota could hardly hold it against a child. Besides, Uncle Kizaru would never take such things to heart.

"Xiao Wu, how can you say that about Mr. Borsalino?"

The rabbit ears on Xiao Wu's head drooped, and she was clearly aggrieved after being scolded by her mother.

Rota sighed, crouched down, and comforted her. "Haha, Xiao Wu isn't wrong. Uncle's nickname is Kizaru!"

"Hahaha, that really is such a funny nickname!" Xiao Wu grinned and laughed.

Seeing that Xiao Wu was no longer upset, Rota's efforts had not been in vain. What Rota could not bear to see most was children crying. Perhaps that was just one of his personal quirks.

"Uncle, you're really interesting. Are all humans like you?" Xiao Wu asked expectantly.

"Oh dear, how should I put this? Very few, I suppose!" After thinking it over, Rota gave that answer. Tang San, the future protagonist, would be very fond of Xiao Wu, so he could not speak too absolutely.

"I see. I was thinking of going to the human world to have some fun!"

Since Xiao Wu's mother was still alive, that meant Bibi Dong had not come yet. In other words, the current timeline was still relatively early. Rota did not have any particularly strong feelings about Xiao Wu's mother—perhaps because she had too little screen time.

As for what would happen in the future, Rota could not yet say how he should interfere. He would take things one step at a time.

After chatting with Xiao Wu and the others for a while longer, Rota sensed that the Titan Giant Ape had stopped moving. It seemed he had reached a more outer area.

"It's time to set off," Rota said.

"Is Uncle Kizaru leaving?" Xiao Wu asked in confusion.

They had just been chatting. Why was he suddenly leaving?

"Yes. That little ape named Er Ming seems to have reached a more outer area."

The Sky Azure Bull Python was greatly surprised by Borsalino's words. He had not expected Borsalino to sense Er Ming's position from such a great distance.

"Well then, Uncle is off! If there's another chance, I'll come play with Xiao Wu again."

Though there was still some reluctance in Xiao Wu's eyes, she nodded obediently. Then she bade Borsalino farewell. "Goodbye, Uncle Kizaru!"

"Sayonara! Goodbye!"

Under everyone's astonished gazes, Borsalino transformed into specks of golden light and flew into the distance, vanishing beyond sight in an instant.

"What a powerful human," the Sky Azure Bull Python murmured.

A few notes on the setting: Since the current time is still quite far from the beginning of the plot, I had Xiao Wu take human form first. The setting for this period is that it is a transitional stage after taking human form, during which she grows more slowly, hehe~
