"Since you have no objections, start working." The supervisor handed Shiyu a pair of gloves and told him to wash dishes.

"Starting today?" Shiyu asked in surprise.

"Why not?" the supervisor retorted.

"Then I'll be having a meal later. You said dinner was included," Shiyu said, unwilling to suffer a loss.

"Then wash the dishes quickly," the supervisor said irritably.

"Ah, I'm sorry to put you through this," Shiyu said apologetically to his hands.

After putting on the gloves, he headed to the dishwashing area. Several people were washing dishes there while chatting, and they were all women.

Shiyu's gaze was drawn to a woman washing dishes with her back to him. One look at that back and her hair told him she was not some middle-aged auntie.

Her waist was slender, her hips curvy, and her long golden hair fell in waves. Just from her back, she looked like a beauty.

"Hello, aunties. I'm Shiyu, the new part-timer," Shiyu greeted them proactively upon entering.

"Hello." The aunties all replied with smiles and beckoned Shiyu over to sit down and wash dishes.

The woman who had originally had her back to Shiyu also turned her head to look at him.

As Shiyu passed by her, he got a clear look at her and was stunned... She was so beautiful.

Her skin was fair, her features exquisite, and her figure was just as lovely from behind. On campus, she would absolutely be the sort of beauty known as a campus goddess.

Though Shiyu was amazed, he did not make a lecherous face. He was simply appreciating beauty. He smiled and nodded at her in greeting.

The young woman also gave him a faint smile in polite reply.

"You can sit next to Nannan. You two are probably around the same age, and if people your age spend more time together, maybe you'll become good friends," one auntie said.

"Sure." Shiyu had no objection to sitting beside a beauty.

"Wait... What did you say your name was?" Shiyu froze halfway through sitting down and stared at the beautiful young woman in surprise.

"Jiang Nannan. Is there a problem?" she introduced herself, looking at Shiyu with slight confusion.

Thinking back, she did not seem to have met him before. Yet why did he react as if he knew her?

"N-No problem. I just thought it was a beautiful name and was taken aback," Shiyu hurriedly improvised.

He sat down, feeling rather surprised. He had not expected to run into Jiang Nannan here.

"Your name sounds lovely too," Jiang Nannan said politely.

Shiyu merely smiled and threw himself into washing dishes.

"Shiyu, you're quite skilled at washing dishes," an auntie praised.

"I often helped my mom wash dishes at home. After doing it enough times, I got used to it," Shiyu said.

"Where is your home?" The aunties asked casually, merely making conversation.

"That's a sad subject for me. I don't want to talk much about it," Shiyu said, his mood dimming.

He had no home at all in this world. How could he bear to discuss it in detail?

Besides, he really did miss home a little. He had inexplicably come to this world. After discovering he had vanished, who knew how much his parents must have cried?

Thinking about it now made his eyes sting. I'm sorry, Mom and Dad.

Seeing his mood suddenly darken, the aunties exchanged looks, all feeling somewhat guilty. Something terrible had probably happened to his family. Perhaps his parents were no longer alive.

Jiang Nannan thought the same and felt some sympathy for Shiyu. Her own family was not much better off than his.

They were both people burdened by hardship, so she could understand Shiyu's feelings at that moment.

When her father had died, she had cried for three days and three nights until she fainted.

Later, her mother had fallen gravely ill, and she had gone through many more bitter experiences. They were truly too painful to recall.

As Jiang Nannan thought about it, her mood also sank, and she felt inexplicably sad.

"Why do you two children both look like you're about to cry? No matter how terrible things are, they shouldn't affect who you are now. You're students of Shrek Academy, and you have bright futures ahead. No matter how much suffering you endure, it will eventually fade," one auntie said solemnly.

Hearing such vaguely philosophical words come from a dishwashing auntie made Shiyu feel a little unaccustomed.

"Auntie, you must have read quite a few books. Why are you still washing dishes?" Shiyu suddenly joked.

"You brat, what does reading lots of books have to do with washing dishes?" The auntie raised her hand as if to hit him.

Shiyu laughed and dodged, quickly apologizing and begging for mercy.

The other aunties and Jiang Nannan were all amused, and the atmosphere immediately eased quite a bit.

"There are more dishes than people," Shiyu could not help complaining as he left the dishwashing room. He felt as though he had washed several hundred bowls.

Together with those washed by the others, there had to have been at least four thousand dishes. The workload was enormous.

"After washing dishes a few more times, you won't feel so tired," Jiang Nannan said, seeing that Shiyu was not used to it.

"Poor me." Shiyu shook his head. Seeing the aunties gathered together waiting to eat, he followed Jiang Nannan over.

"Aunties, Jiang Nannan and I are still kids. It's not too much for each of us to eat two chicken legs, right?" As he spoke, Shiyu placed two chicken legs onto Jiang Nannan's tray, then took two for himself.

"No need," Jiang Nannan said shyly, wanting to refuse.

However, Shiyu moved too quickly. The chicken legs were already on her tray, leaving her no chance to decline.

"It's obviously you who wants two chicken legs. Why drag Nannan into it?" an auntie said irritably.

Shiyu smiled and began eating a chicken leg. After washing so many dishes, he would truly feel sorry for his own labor if he did not eat two extra chicken legs.

Jiang Nannan looked at the chicken legs on her tray, then at Shiyu eating so happily, and began eating as well.

These aunties were all very kind. They took especially good care of Shiyu and Jiang Nannan, constantly adding food to their plates.

At first, Shiyu accepted everything, but eventually he truly could not eat any more and hurriedly refused. "Are you feeding Nannan and me like pigs?"

Jiang Nannan glanced at Shiyu, unaccustomed to being addressed that way.

Shiyu did not notice anything wrong with what he had said. He had not meant anything by it; he had simply called her whatever came naturally.

Shiyu and Jiang Nannan left the cafeteria together, contentedly rubbing their stomachs. They had eaten very well.

"Senior Nannan, what are you doing next?" Shiyu asked.

"Why do you ask?" Jiang Nannan asked in return.

"I was thinking that now that we're full, we could take a walk and look around the school to get familiar with the place. But I just got here and don't know the campus, so I thought I'd find someone familiar with it to go with me. That way, I can get to know the school faster," Shiyu said.

"It's fine if you have something to do. I can go by myself," Shiyu added. Jiang Nannan had initially wanted to refuse, since she preferred to spend her free time cultivating.

However, she thought Shiyu was rather pitiful. She did not dislike him and even thought he was quite a decent person, so she nodded in agreement.

"Thanks. Tomorrow at dinner, I'll help you get a few more chicken legs," Shiyu said with an innocent smile.

"I'm not a pig. How could I eat that many?" Jiang Nannan laughed.

She did not know what to say about his way of showing gratitude.
