"Which direction has more of the academy's landmark buildings?" Shiyu asked Jiang Nannan.

Two opposite directions lay before them.

"This way. It leads to Sea God Lake, the academy's most iconic place. The night view of Sea God Lake is quite beautiful," Jiang Nannan said, pointing in one direction.

"Sea God Lake? Don't tell me there really is some legendary god there?" Shiyu pretended not to know.

"How could that be?" Jiang Nannan chuckled.

The two headed toward Sea God Lake. Lamps lined the road, stretching their shadows long behind them.

Shiyu had many questions and casually asked them along the way. The two chatted and laughed, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

"This is Sea God Lake. The island in the middle is called Sea God Island, and it's the most important place in Shrek Academy," Jiang Nannan introduced.

Shiyu looked in that direction. The Silver Moon in the sky was reflected on the water, its glow making the surface shimmer with ripples, creating a rather artistic scene.

Sea God Lake was enormous. The sheer size of Lake Heart Island at its center gave some indication of just how vast it was.

Even without Jiang Nannan's introduction, Shiyu knew what was on Sea God Island: the Inner Court and Sea God Pavilion. More than eighty percent of Shrek Academy's top-tier combatants likely lived there.

"The scenery really is beautiful," Shiyu praised. If he had a phone, he would have wanted to take a picture.

Before long, his attention was drawn to a couple by the lakeside, locked in a passionate kiss.

Shiyu smiled knowingly, though he did not stare and soon looked away.

"Let's go look over there instead."

Jiang Nannan had naturally noticed the couples as well. Only then did she remember the special meaning of strolling around Sea God Lake at night. Feeling slightly awkward, she wanted to take Shiyu away as quickly as possible.

"Sure." Shiyu did not think much of it.

After making a full circuit, they finally returned to the dormitories. Since the male and female dorms were in the same building, they entered the residential area together.

"Not bad, Nannan. Your boyfriend?" A pretty girl saw Jiang Nannan walking back to the dormitory with a handsome male student and immediately came over, nudging Jiang Nannan with an expression that plainly said, Tell me everything.

"No, don't get the wrong idea. He's just a friend I met today," Jiang Nannan quickly explained.

"Hello, Senior. I'm Shiyu, a new student," Shiyu introduced himself with a smile.

"So you're a junior. You're pretty handsome," the girl said. She was outgoing and struck up conversation naturally.

"Senior, you really know how to flatter someone," Shiyu said with a smile.

"You stole my line," the girl said coquettishly. Wasn't that usually what girls said to boys?

"Haha, just kidding. I'm not Senior Nannan's boyfriend, so please don't misunderstand her. I'm thick-skinned, so it doesn't matter to me, but Senior Nannan is thin-skinned. It wouldn't be good if her reputation were damaged," Shiyu explained as well.

"Is that so?" The girl's bright eyes spun as she moved from Jiang Nannan's side to Shiyu's.

"So that means you're still single, Junior. How about I give you a chance to pursue me?" the girl teased.

Shiyu looked at the girl, then at Jiang Nannan, and decisively shook his head. "If I had to choose one person to pursue, I'd still choose Senior Nannan."

"You're asking for it!" the girl snapped angrily.

Shiyu promptly ran off. After putting some distance between them, he turned back and waved to Jiang Nannan. "Good night, Senior Nannan."

Jiang Nannan waved back as well, bidding him farewell.

"Brat!" The girl glared unhappily at Shiyu.

"He was only joking with you. Don't take it too seriously," Jiang Nannan said, linking arms with her friend.

"I'm not going to lower myself to his level," the girl huffed, still annoyed.

When he returned to the dormitory, Shiyu found that Dai Huabin was already cultivating on his bed.

Shiyu moved quietly. After washing up, he sat down on his own bed as well.

"Dai Huabin works this hard. What reason do I have not to work hard?" Shiyu encouraged himself.

He began cultivating according to the method Teacher Song Lingzhen had taught him earlier that day.

Cultivation methods across the continent were universal and fairly basic. They simply taught one how to absorb Heaven and Earth Energy and convert it into one's own Soul Power.

He did not have the Mysterious Heaven Skill, so he could only cultivate using this most basic method.

The Soul Power within his body began to circulate, generating a suction force that gradually drew the energy in the surroundings into his body. After one cycle, part of it was converted into his own Soul Power, while the rest flowed back out.

Spirit Masters could not convert all the energy they absorbed. Usually, only ten to twenty percent of the total absorbed energy could be converted and stored.

The higher the grade of the Martial Soul and the greater one's innate talent, the closer that conversion rate would be to twenty percent.

The higher the conversion rate within a given period of time, the faster one's cultivation speed would naturally be.

Furthermore, even Spirit Masters of the same level absorbed Heaven and Earth Energy at different speeds. The determining factors were likewise the quality of their Martial Souls and their innate talents.

Shiyu felt that his own cultivation was going rather well.

When Teacher Song Lingzhen had taught him how to cultivate, he had completed the standard absorption and conversion process on his first try.

His overall absorption speed and conversion rate were both fairly high, but they were difficult to quantify, so he did not have a clear understanding of them.

While he was immersed in cultivation, Dai Huabin across from him slightly opened his eyes and looked at him in surprise.

"What kind of Martial Soul is that?" Dai Huabin looked at the Silver Vortex behind Shiyu, unable to recognize it.

Shiyu stopped cultivating around midnight. Lying on his bed, he stared at the ceiling and fell into deep thought.

All sorts of questions surfaced in his mind, all concerning his journey to Ten Thousand Years Ago.

After thinking for a long time, he managed to sort out a few things. His journey to Ten Thousand Years Ago was most likely related to absorbing a Soul Ring.

As for whether that was truly the case, he would have to wait until the next time he absorbed a Soul Ring to confirm it.

The second piece of information was that he had stayed in Ten Thousand Years Ago for roughly seven days, while time in this world had not changed. When he returned, the timeline had connected seamlessly.

Simply put, after he traveled through time, time in this world stopped. There would be no situation where he traveled there today and returned tomorrow.

What concerned him most now was whether returning to the past would change the present.

This time, he had taken Tang San's External Soul Bone. Would Tang San still have the Eight Spider Lances Soul Bone?

If not, then some of Tang San's later experiences would definitely change. What effect would that have on the present?

The more Shiyu thought about it, the more confused his mind became.

"Maybe I can find some records about Tang San's life," Shiyu said as he abruptly sat up.

"You can't casually speak the name of the Sea God Ancestor," Dai Huabin's voice came from nearby.

Shiyu looked over and saw that Dai Huabin had somehow stopped cultivating on his bed.

Shiyu did not argue. This was Shrek Academy. Casually calling Tang San by name, let alone cursing him, really was not a wise move.

Damn Tang San, Shiyu silently cursed in his heart as he prepared to get out of bed and leave.

Then he suddenly slapped his forehead, realizing he was being stupid. With Dai Huabin here, he might know something. Why not just ask him directly?

"Brother, do you know about the Eight Spider Lances Soul Bone?" Shiyu asked tentatively.
