Sorry You Had to See the Dark Side of Society

Long before leading Gensokyo's residents back, I had made arrangements, notifying Artemis to prepare housing construction and real estate promotion. For all kinds of reasons, I hoped Gensokyo's residents would settle in Avalon as much as possible. Saving a huge amount in demolition compensation and avoiding a lot of trouble were important reasons, but another could not be overlooked: Child's Mother was simply too much of a troublemaker. You simply could not imagine how many shameless remarks she dared publish in the Imperial Daily under the identity of "First Wife." That would deal a devastating blow to my reputation.

This town, built in such a short time, showed that Artemis had carried out my orders well. When the tour group led by Hakurei Reimu entered the town, what met their eyes were not shoddy buildings hastily completed or rushed resettlement housing with only a glossy exterior, but neat and orderly detached houses, broad and clean pebble roads that did not feel rigid, vine-wrapped streetlamps brimming with natural charm, lush green lawns, and nearby buildings covered everywhere in elegant elven secret scripts and mysterious goddess-rune styles. Moving from a noisy, crowded city into such a secluded town would surely be dreamlike. Even Gensokyo's youkai, who had always lived in a Secluded Paradise, showed satisfied expressions at these homes. Although most of the youkai present, aside from kappa and tengu, were not included in this demolition compensation scheme, they still showed tremendous interest in the place.

The peaceful environment put me in a pleasant mood as well, but unfortunately, that good mood did not last long. When everyone reached the sales center in the middle of town, an intensely stressful sight appeared before us.

A town this large would certainly be desolate without residents, yet the streets around the sales center were
