Background / History

Gu Yuena is the Silver Dragon King, formed when the Dragon God was split in two by the Asura God during the God War. While the Golden Dragon King was sealed in the Divine Realm, Gu Yuena escaped to the Lake of Life on the Douluo Continent with grave injuries. There she remained hidden for tens of thousands of years while the soul beast race declined under humanity and the Divine Realm's rule. 41

When Long Yu awakens the Dragon God Martial Soul, Gu Yuena senses him and approaches him in the Star Dou Great Forest. Believing him to be the Dragon God's reincarnation, she kneels before him and begs him to restore the soul beast race. Long Yu refuses to immediately involve himself in a war against the Divine Realm, leaving Gu Yuena devastated but unwilling to abandon hope. 41 42

Despite his refusal, Gu Yuena gives Long Yu a ten-thousand-year Dragon Armored Turtle sacrifice for his third soul ring, establishes a restriction that conceals the divine aura of his Martial Soul, and chooses to remain near him for six years rather than continue recovering alone at the Lake of Life. 43 45 46

Gu Yuena later learns that Long Yu is not actually the Dragon God's reincarnation when the Dragon God Core's remnant will attempts to erase his consciousness. Faced with a choice between the Dragon God's return and Long Yu's life, she chooses Long Yu. After he destroys the remnant will, Gu Yuena apologizes for treating him as the Dragon God rather than as himself. 154 155
