The first demon was a thing on all fours. It had a body more than a meter tall and thick, powerful muscles, and sulfur spewed between its sharp fangs. Its claws could strike sparks, turning the reeking sulfur into fireballs.
Nero's Serpent Sword could barely cut into that solid muscle, leaving only streaks of blood across its massive body. So she had no choice but to make Echidna contract into a longsword, pry its mouth open with both hands clad in Gilgamesh, and stab the blade inside.
The second demon was a winged dwarf. A pair of sharp horns crowned its head, and its nails were like razor-edged blades. Before Nero had fully brought the first one down, it had already lunged at her. Nero had one hand wrapped around the last demon's head, the other thrust into its mouth, so she could only choose to kick it away.
The serpent-like Serpent Sword churned the demon's esophagus and stomach into scraps. Nero pulled her hand out of the demon's mouth, dragging out minced flesh and black blood, and by then the third demon had already reached her.
There were simply too many enemies. At first, Nero could still pay some attention to their stances and methods of attack, but once ants became a swarm, no one cared what any single one of them looked like anymore.
Hernan, meanwhile, had an even harder time dealing with a single demon. The plague spread by her ring could only weaken the demons, and though she wanted to trigger a thunderstorm, she did not dare strike enemies tangled up in close combat with her. The cannons summoned from the ship behind her, on the other hand, looked somewhat more convincing.
Nero seized the third demon, kicked the fourth away, then hurled the demon in
