He Caitou’s family suffered an upheaval when he was six, leaving his knowledge of the Sun Moon Empire’s Soul Tool development superficial. He later spent more than a decade studying at Shrek Academy, where his understanding of Soul Tool technology was comparatively limited by the academy’s resources. 186

Fan Yu was instrumental in He Caitou’s survival, and He Caitou came to regard him as a father. During Fan Yu’s detention by Illustrious Virtue Hall, He Caitou repeatedly petitioned Shrek to ransom him; he was elated when Fan Yu returned after more than a year. 123

First Soul Fighting Tournament

After sustaining relatively light injuries, He Caitou received treatment from the Star Luo Imperial Family’s Medical Immortal Douluo and joined Shrek’s emergency seven-person lineup. He was one of only four Soul Ancestors on the team. 58

During the team battle against the Sun Moon Royal Team, he set up his cannons and exchanged fire with Xiao Hongchen and Ma Rulong. 66 In an individual match against Su Yu, his cannons were restricted by entangling Blue Silver Grass, and he was defeated quickly. 67

Fan Yu’s Return

While unsuccessfully working on a Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon, He Caitou was reunited with Fan Yu. His frustration over the failed project immediately gave way to relief at his teacher’s return. 123

Later Soul Fighting Tournament

He Caitou reappeared as a Shrek main-team member and Soul Emperor. Shrek withheld him from an individual match against the Tyrant Dragon Sect because Soul Engineers consume considerable resources in combat and are difficult to evaluate solely by Soul Power. 178

As a spectator, he closely assessed the Sun Moon Royal Team’s Battle Armor Masters. He identified their armor as complete Fifth-Level Soul Tool Armor, but could not understand how it produced such extreme increases in speed, defense, Soul Power output, and endurance. 179 180

Underground Soul Engineer Competition

Shrek selected He Caitou as its primary candidate for the Underground Soul Engineer Competition, whose prize was a Ninth-Level Soul Tool. Despite his Seventh-Level certification, Shrek acknowledged that he lacked the technical advantages Huo Yuhao had gained through Illustrious Virtue Hall. 185

Qian Duoduo arranged for Tang Zhen to assist him, allowing He Caitou to focus on Soul Tool design while Tang Zhen handled early metal forging and shaping. 186
