"Dylan, what do you think? Was I brave just now?"
Dylan neither agreed nor disagreed with the few brats.
If merely going to a teacher to ask questions counted as bravery, then Harry and the others weren't wrong.
"I hope Professor Snape will also be in his office over the weekend."
After returning that evening, he would have to make time to organize his thoughts about what he didn't understand in Potions.
Therefore, he planned to wait until the weekend before bothering Snape.
As for the afternoon, he still had other things to do.
He walked out of the classroom with Harry and Ron.
His gaze fell on Harry.
"Are you planning to leave now?"
At breakfast, he and Harry had agreed that they would go to Hagrid's Hut together to see him after classes ended.
As soon as he finished speaking, Harry's stomach began to growl.
"Uh, I was planning to go after we eat."
Today's Potions Class had left Harry utterly exhausted, and he desperately wanted to stuff something into his mouth.
"All right. Looks like you're hungry." Dylan nodded.
Harry wore a helpless expression. "Heaven knows what it feels like to be watched by Professor Snape the whole time. My back was straight all day."
Dylan smiled and arrived at the Great Hall with Ron and Harry.
After eating.
Harry had regained some energy, while Ron seemed to come back to life completely.
When he heard that Dylan planned to visit Hagrid, he also shouted that he wanted to go with them.
Dylan naturally had no objections.
The group left Hogwarts Castle and headed for Hagrid's Hut.
"Hey, big guy, we came to see you!"
They hadn't even reached the door when Ron began shouting noisily.
"Oh, it's you Young Wizards."
When Hagrid saw Harry, he warmly welcomed them inside.
"Have you eaten? I have some Rock Cakes here. They taste quite good. Have some."
Hagrid brought over a plate of large cakes that looked like chunks of stone.
"We've eaten, but we can still have a little dessert."
Ron was the first to pick up a Rock Cake and put it in his mouth.
"Crack."
"Hiss!"
Ron's eyes instantly went wide.
He felt as if his teeth were about to be bitten off!
"How are these cakes so hard?"
Harry also curiously picked one up. After biting at it for a long time, he hadn't managed to eat even a mouthful, only breaking off a tiny bit of crust.
"Good heavens, did you use a Hardening Charm on these cakes? I want to learn Diffindo right now, this instant!" Ron exclaimed.
Dylan had learned the spell as well, but he wasn't very proficient. He only understood the basics and had just begun learning it.
Facing the large cakes on the table, Dylan didn't move.
Therefore, he naturally didn't have to face the situation of being unable to do anything to a cake except cover it in saliva before trying to use Diffindo.
"Sorry, I made them quite chewy."
Hagrid scratched his head, suddenly remembering that these cakes really weren't something ordinary Young Wizards could chew.
"If you really can't eat them, let Fang have them. Although magic can also heal injuries, breaking a tooth isn't worth it."
Harry immediately threw his cake to Fang.
Ron still wanted to continue fighting that rock-like cake.
Fang ate Harry's Rock Cake.
Then, swishing his tail like a whip, he ran over to Dylan.
Dylan merely patted his big head.
Seeing that there was no food, Fang ran over to Ron.
He dashed back and forth among them, his tongue lolling out as he panted heavily and made huffing sounds.
His thick limbs moved in an uncoordinated gait, and from time to time, he was so eager that he crashed into the sofa where they were sitting.
In the end, Ron gave up on fighting the Rock Cake and secretly stuffed it to Fang.
Hagrid went to pour them each a glass of water, then turned around and saw what Fang was doing.
He burst into hearty laughter. "Looks like Fang really likes you. You should spend more time playing with him."
After bringing the water over to them.
Dylan thanked him.
Hagrid also sat down nearby, let out a long breath, and looked at Ron with a hint of emotion.
"I'm really glad to see you getting along so well with Fang. It reminds me of your brother Charlie. He treats Magical Creatures much better than other wizards do."
Ron blinked. "What about Fred and the others?"
Hagrid's face immediately crumpled. "Don't mention those two mischievous rascals!"
After Fang finished eating the large cake, Harry began playing around with him nearby.
Dylan took the opportunity to say to Hagrid, "Sir, there's something I'd like to ask you."
Hagrid looked over in surprise.
He had heard Professor McGonagall mention Dylan several times.
This was a remarkably gifted Young Wizard. He'd heard that even Snape had been worn down by him that morning.
It was his first time seeing a Young Wizard who could actually deal with Snape!
Now this Young Wizard had suddenly come to ask him for a favor.
Could he be asking me about Magical Creatures?
Hagrid wondered whether he could experience what it felt like to be a professor for once, and he unconsciously straightened up a little.
"Go ahead."
Dylan smiled faintly. "I really like Magical Creatures, so after giving it a lot of thought, I've decided that I'd like to keep a Shadow Crow as a pet."
"But I heard that I need to hold an Ownership Permit, so I was wondering whether you could write me a letter of guarantee?"
Hagrid raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"A Shadow Crow? They really are a bunch of little darlings. You have good taste."
He thought for a moment, then nodded. "No problem. I'll write a letter of guarantee and send it to the Magical Creature Management and Control Bureau later. With my recommendation, they'll review it very quickly."
"Thank you! My name is Dylan Hawkwood."
"I know your name. You're a very clever Young Wizard who has taken up many professors' free time, hahaha!"
Hagrid threw his head back and laughed.
At that, Dylan merely pressed his lips together and smiled faintly.
"So, Dylan, you came to see Hagrid because you want to raise a Magical Creature?"
Fang ran over to Dylan's side, and Harry looked over as well. "I don't even know what a Shadow Crow is."
"It's a creature somewhat like a black cat."
Dylan thought of his own Coal Ball's cold eyes and added,
"Very cute."
Harry nodded without the slightest doubt.
Hagrid didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with a Shadow Crow having a cold expression, either.
He was just about to say something when Harry asked him, "During Potions Class today, I felt that Professor Snape really seemed to have something against me."
A flicker passed through Hagrid's eyes, and his smile faded.
"Oh, him. Professor Snape is just that kind of person. He doesn't look kindly on anyone—except Headmaster Dumbledore."
Dylan noticed the change in Hagrid's mood. It seemed that Hagrid was deliberately avoiding continuing to discuss Snape with Harry.
He certainly wasn't going to say anything at a time like this. After all, he was still counting on Hagrid to write him a letter of guarantee and a recommendation.
