Professor Slughorn's office was not too far away.
But after being lectured by Li Weide all the way there, Tom finally could not take it anymore.
"Weide, has anyone ever told you that you're really long-winded?" Tom said irritably.
"Fine, Tom, now you're starting to find me long-winded..."
Faced with Li Weide's ensuing barrage of verbal attacks, Tom was thoroughly fed up.
He decided that once they got back, he would also come up with a spell that could block out Li Weide's voice.
Fortunately, he did not have to endure it for long before they arrived at Professor Slughorn's office.
Professor Slughorn was somewhat puzzled by Professor McGonagall's sudden visit.
When he saw the group of Slytherin students behind Professor McGonagall, he became even more confused.
"Minerva, what is this...?"
So Professor McGonagall explained the whole incident, as well as how she had handled it, to Professor Slughorn.
"Minerva, you handled this very reasonably. I have no objections..." Professor Slughorn said, his face stern as he looked at the troublesome students.
After all, having one hundred and eighty points deducted on the first day of school was not something even Slughorn could remain indifferent about, no matter how little he cared about such things.
Other than Li Weide and Tom, who both felt they had done nothing wrong, everyone lowered their heads, not daring to meet their Head of House's gaze.
After seeing Professor McGonagall off, Professor Slughorn turned to look at the Slytherin students.
"You lot are really... something! Fighting was bad enough, but you fought your own Housemates! Fighting your own Housemates was bad enough, but you picked on younger students! Picking on younger students was bad enough, but you outnumbered them! Outnumbering them was bad enough, but you still lost! Should I be proud of you?"
