Background

Before his Martial Soul awakening, Tang San cultivated the Mysterious Heaven Skill near Holy Soul Village when he abruptly suffered a physical collapse and felt that something important had been taken from him. In reality, Zu Zong had stolen his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, reducing Tang San's inherited Blue Silver Grass to an ordinary Martial Soul and beginning a hatred that would define much of Tang San's life 2.

At his awakening, Tang San manifested ordinary Blue Silver Grass with Innate Full Soul Power. He also secretly awakened a second Martial Soul, the Clear Sky Hammer. Witnessing Zu Zong awaken the Blue Silver Emperor intensified his jealousy, and Tang San attempted to attack him before Old Jack restrained him 6 8.

Tang San entered Nuoding Academy under Yu Xiaogang's instruction. During his search for a first Soul Ring, Zu Zong secured the Datura Snake Tang San had intended to claim; Tang San instead received a low-quality Lazy Snake ring. Zu Zong later revealed that he had manipulated Yu Xiaogang into choosing that ring 29 170 400.

At Shrek Academy, Tang San became close to Meng Yiran after defeating her in a soul fight. He endured the dangerous absorption of the Man Faced Demon Spider's soul ring through sheer determination, only for Zu Zong to steal the External Soul Bone that should have emerged—the Eight Spider Lances 52. His growing rivalry with Zu Zong contributed to Shrek's defeat by the Imperial Fight Team and repeatedly damaged his confidence 81 85.

During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Tang San revealed the Clear Sky Hammer and defeated Shui Bing'er's Ice Phoenix with Clear Sky Strike reinforced by Luan Pifeng. He subsequently defeated Feng Xiaotian through the thirty-six hammer strikes of Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, but Shrek later lost to Zu Zong's Heaven Dou Royal Academy team 192 193 207 210.

After reaching rank 50, Tang Hao took Tang San to seek the Blue Silver Emperor's recognition. The Blue Silver King confirmed that Tang San had not inherited Ah Yin's bloodline and identified Zu Zong as the current Blue Silver Emperor. Tang Hao ordered Tang San to stop attaching rings to Blue Silver Grass, as the vast quality gap between it and the Clear Sky Hammer risked fatal Soul Ring backlash 299 300.

Tang San then trained the Clear Sky Hammer until he mastered Nine-Nine Return to One, the eighty-one-strike peak of Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. Tang Hao sent him into Slaughter City for genuine life-or-death combat. Tang San achieved one hundred consecutive Hell Slaughter Arena victories, but could not obtain the Divine Slaughter's Domain because Hell Road had already been destroyed 324 366.

After leaving Slaughter City, Tang San arrived at Moonlight Pavilion to train under his aunt Tang Yuehua and control the killing intent he had accumulated. He was wanted by the Heaven Dou Empire for the death of Prince Xue Beng, and his time in Slaughter City left him scarred, disheveled, and markedly more violent 224 371 374.

Zu Zong later subjected Tang San to illusions, confiscated his hidden weapons, and disclosed his role in sabotaging Tang San's bloodline, first Soul Ring, and Slaughter City outcome. Tang San's hatred rose to extreme levels 399 400. After killing Yu Xiaogang following Tang San's claim that his teacher had assaulted him, Tang San publicly mutilated himself as a repudiation of his former mentor; he later remained consumed by revenge against Zu Zong and Spirit Hall 445 446 594.

Appearance

Tang San's appearance changes substantially over the story. As a child, he is described as blue-haired, muscular, and approximately 1.3 meters tall after his Martial Soul awakening 8. Following Slaughter City, he becomes difficult to recognize.

Though he can appear calm and reasonable around allies, his resentment toward Zu Zong begins almost immediately after his bloodline loss and develops into a fixation on reclaiming the status and future he believes were stolen from him 2 76 218.

He is also determined and exceptionally stubborn. He withstands the Man Faced Demon Spider's soul-ring absorption through pain and devotion to Meng Yiran, endures Tai Tan's pressure rather than falsely blame another person, and commits himself to mastering the Clear Sky Hammer after losing the chance to awaken the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 52 126 300 324.

Later experiences leave him increasingly impulsive and vengeful. His killing intent, criminal status, physical trauma, and repeated manipulation by Zu Zong erode his restraint, culminating in an obsession with destroying Zu Zong and everything connected to him 371 400 594.
