During Sargeras's long reign of "sole dominion over the stars," the Void forces had been unable to break through head-on, so they maintained a rather "diverse" range of methods for interfering with the material world.

The old-school Void Lords would constantly spread "truth" throughout the cosmos, searching for souls that craved power. Within the darkness of consciousness, there were always reckless souls that stumbled in by accident and were captured.

Then, barring any surprises, a brand-new cultist would be born, followed closely by a sect hiding in the shadows.

Such attempts took a long time and offered uncertain returns. After all, even the Void Lords could not guarantee that the souls they captured would not happen to run into a paladin who liked using "Detect Evil" in place of "hello" while out for a stroll, only to be uprooted in an entirely unsurprising random encounter.

Thus, few Void Lords of this era still immersed themselves in this ancient and traditional "game."

They preferred more direct methods.

For example, crudely hurling a Light-Darkness aggregate at a world they favored.

No one could now determine which Void Lord had first created the Old Gods, but it had to be admitted that in the current material universe, whenever the Void faction was mentioned, any mortal race with even a little knowledge would associate it with the Old Gods.

Those corrupted things, lurking and struggling to develop in darkness across the cosmos, had long become symbols of the Void.

Over all these years, in order to avoid personally entering the material world and then getting cut down by the Dark Titan in a single stroke, the Void Lords had cast seeds of Old Gods
