Taming the Wampus Cat

The Wampus Cat stood upright again, its two hind legs tucked behind it, and more of its slightly curved claws emerged from its paws.

When the Wampus Cat stands upright, its running speed is not as fast as usual, but its strength seems to be much greater. It is like a muscular man (or perhaps a woman) with four arms, two for defense and two for offense.

Runespoor is so large that it is difficult to avoid all attacks, even though Newt's Shield Charm is an excellent defensive spell, as long as there is even the slightest opening, the Wampus Cat's claws will fiercely grab the Runespoor's body.

The hard snake scales were no match for the sharp claws of the Wampus Cat. With just one fierce swipe, a scale the size of a palm was torn off, Runespoor splattered onto the ground.

The three heads of the Runespoor suddenly emitted a noisy hissing sound; it (or perhaps they?) was also angry.

I thought I was just helping Sean teach a disobedient big cat a lesson, but the other party was so ruthless?

The Wampus Cat now holds the top spot on the hate list, Niffler has slipped down in the rankings.

It violently swung its tail, the barbs on its surface suddenly opening, and then swept away.

The Wampus Cat, having gained an advantage, tried to retreat, but Newt timed it perfectly and used a spell to stop it from doing anything further.

Its ability to Legilimency was somewhat insufficient when facing three heads and a wizard.

The Wampus Cat was whipped by the huge snake tail. In pain, it crouched down and tried to escape, but the transparent barrier reappeared.

The Runespoor had worked with Newt many times, slithered over and the Wampus Cat was immediately wrapped around its thick body.

"Hey! Man! Barbs!" Sean shouted immediately.

Although somewhat reluctant, Sean had to listen to him. The Runespoor tightened its barbs, binding the Wampus Cat tightly.

The Niffler, which had been lurking behind, exhaled a breath of poisonous gas, then immediately and instinctively held its breath.

It's a pity I didn't get a chance to play.

"What a grumpy kid," Newt said to Sean with a smile, putting away his wand.

Indeed, Newt's own strength goes without saying; he was already one of the top warriors in the Wizarding World. The Runespoor he raised was also outstanding in terms of both size and combat experience. Its three heads, each with its own distinct mind, could even counter the Wampus Cat's Legilimency. It took the man and the snake so long to barely manage to trap their opponent.

Frankly speaking, this Wampus Cat alone could take on almost all the students at Hogwarts.

Sean rubbed the three large heads of the Runespoor as encouragement, then climbed over its curled-up body, where only the Wampus Cat's head was visible.

"Woof!" Upon seeing Sean approach, the Wampus Cat immediately let out a threatening growl and struggled even more violently.

"Relax, you're being too sensitive." Sean sat down and looked directly into the eyes of the Wampus Cat.

As Newt says, the Wampus Cat's pupils no longer turn completely black; when its life is seriously threatened, this animal will habitually use its ability to Legilimency in order to find a way to survive.

Sean slowly smiled as he met those eyes that gleamed with a cold light, as if they could see right through him.

Newt nearby, also held his breath.

Upon closer inspection, one can see that the pupils of Wampus Cat lack the linear sclera found in most creatures. Instead, their eyes resemble extremely pure sapphires, with a seemingly ethereal mist swirling around their very center.

Gradually, Sean sensed the other person's emotions.

It was a feeling of trepidation, unease, anger, and sensitivity; he could even sense the slight grievance in the Wampus Cat's heart.

I just went out to eat, what did I do to deserve this?

As its emotions shifted, the Wampus Cat struggled less and less, and finally, the muffled growl in its throat disappeared.

"Meow—" it meowed pitifully at Sean.

Newt had been watching all this, couldn't help but shake his head, repeatedly exclaiming, "Amazing, absolutely amazing!"

Sean rubbed the head of the defenseless Wampus Cat, and he made the Runespoor release it.

Feeling the restraints released, the Wampus Cat leaped out. It glanced warily at Runespoor and Newt, then cautiously approached Sean.

It rubbed against Sean's chest like a big cat.

"Relax, little guy, no one here will hurt you." Sean hugged its head and rubbed it, and even scratched the Wampus Cat's chin hard.

"Meow—"

"Hungry? Here, let's eat." Sean picked up the iron bucket and placed it in front of the Wampus Cat.

Newt walked over with a smile as he watched the Wampus Cat wolfing down their food.

"Sean, well done."

"I was only responsible for a little bit of finishing work, Professor."

"Often, the key is the person who has the ability to bring things to a close."

After settling the Runespoor and the Niffler back in their places, Sean looked at Newt: "Professor Scamander, what should we do with it?"

The Wampus Cat was lying at his feet, enjoying Sean's cat-petting service.

"Let's take care of it for a while." A sketchbook floated in front of Newt, and he was using his wand to manipulate a quill to draw the appearance of the Wampus Cat.

Throughout his many years of life, he has never actually come into contact with Wampus Cat; he has only ever observed them from afar.

Newt is never the kind of person who captures an animal just to study it; the various animals in his box all come from unexpected sources, which is what Sean admires most about him.

The picture book was turned over, and the quill pen started moving again on its own. Newt straightened up, beaming, "What beautiful animals!"

"Professor, is it going to be reprinted again, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?" Sean asked with a smile.

"I do have that idea," Newt said, "But before that, we might need to send the little guy back where it should be."

Sean looked down at the Wampus Cat, who had closed its eyes contentedly under his strong stroke.

Although reluctant, Sean nodded.

Newt smiled slightly, "Sean, I'm proud of you."

"You flatter me, Professor." Sean shifted his position a little shyly.

He genuinely loves Magical Creatures, and naturally, Sean, like Newt, hopes that these animals can continue to live where they belong.

After helping Newt tidy up the shed and calming the Wampus Cat down to stay put, Sean said goodbye to Newt and returned to the Common Room.

It was already night, but the Ravenclaw Common Room was brightly lit, with many people leaning back in their chairs, engrossed in their books, occasionally exchanging a few words with the students next to them.

Sean blinked. Oh right, final exams are coming soon.
