Wallop Farm
He had been prepared for this for a long time.
The wealthy Mr. Wallop bought several farms, and with just a word, he could immediately raise an "army" of over a thousand roosters.
Although the enemy was in the shadows while we were in the open, that also meant the heir to the Chamber of Secrets wouldn't dare to act openly. Sean had already anticipated this; the students, at the professor's insistence, always acted in groups. Killing their little pets would be easy, but the heir's whereabouts would be extremely easy to expose.
At this point, targeting Hagrid's territory was a perfectly normal course of action; a large flock of roosters under the care of only one person made it much easier to attack. This was also part of the plan Sean and the professors had discussed: to lure the enemy into making a move.
However, Sean hadn't expected the other party to act so quickly, and to have already laid down a lot of magic in the chicken coop that Hagrid was taking care of. That person actually managed to carry out the attack without alerting the professors; quite skilled indeed...
Sean rested his chin on his hand. He had previously considered the possibility of a young wizard being controlled, like Ginny in the original story, but now it seemed unlikely, as controlling a young wizard to do such a thing was impractical.
Very few people in the school can bypass the professor's curse; of course, the possibility that some people are hiding their true abilities cannot be ruled out.
However, is the heir a student of this school, or did he sneak in from outside?
These are points to note...
The next day, Newt returned to Hogwarts with a new batch of roosters, but this time the 'lineup' was a bit strange...
In the makeshift chicken coop, Sean watched with a strange expression as Newt opened the cages and let the roosters into the coop.
Each of those shiny-furred creatures wore a small nameplate around its neck.
"Wallop Farm Donates to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry"
Sean's lips twitched. What was his dad doing...? How embarrassing...
While busy unloading the cargo, Hagrid patted Sean on the shoulder and said, "Sean, your father is a truly generous gentleman!"
"Um, thank you on his behalf, Hagrid ..." Sean covered his face in embarrassment.
When the last cage was taken out, Newt closed the suitcase and said with a smile, "Sean, your father is a very interesting man, and he must love you very much."
"I've never questioned my father's love for me," Sean shook his head with a wry smile, "It's just the way he does it..."
"You should think about it differently," Newt said seriously. "Although it may seem a bit mercenary, the entire Hogwarts needs to thank your Wallop family for their generous support—by the way, Sean, does your farm still put a tag on every chicken?"
"No, my family owns a hospital..."
"...All right."
After the little incident, Sean walked around the makeshift chicken coop twice and asked, "Hagrid, where are the dead roosters?"
"It was disposed of because we didn't know if it carried any poison or anything."
"How did he die?"
Hagrid scratched his head. "His throat was cut open. Professor Flitwick examined it, and it doesn't seem to be the effect of a spell."
Hagrid also told Sean that he had only gone into the Great Hall for a quick meal, and when he returned, the chickens had been brutally murdered.
Is this not the effect of a curse? Sean was somewhat puzzled.
On a dark and stormy night, with no idea when the watchman would return, the mastermind slit the throats of each chicken one by one.
Without using magic spells, is there enough time?
That's a bit strange, and that's something to keep in mind...
When Sean returned to the castle, he noticed that his classmates were looking at him with gratitude in their eyes.
"Sean, thank you!"
"Dude, your family business must be quite substantial, right?"
Sean suddenly received a lot of thanks, and everyone was very enthusiastic towards him.
After the chickens' tragic deaths last night, everyone realized that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets was afraid of roosters. Wallop Farm, which generously donated thousands of roosters, became the object of the students' gratitude, Sean naturally became a celebrity— Hagrid, the big mouth, spilled the beans.
Mr. Wallop is truly visionary... Sean could only smile helplessly. He didn't like being surrounded by a crowd. He could occasionally pretend to be better, but he couldn't stand being patted on the shoulder while walking on the stone corridor.
Especially since those people had just stroked the rooster in his cage... Sean felt like he was covered in chicken droppings, which completely confirmed his status as a rich second-generation heir to a poultry farm...
"What? The new flock of chickens has all died?" The next morning, Sean ran into Hagrid at the entrance of the Great Hall.
Hagrid, holding a dead rooster, said helplessly, "It happened in the middle of the night last night. The professors changed the warning spells, but they still couldn't detect any trace of the spell's use, or even any signs of biological activity—look at these corpses, every rooster died like this."
Sean had anticipated all of this, but he didn't expect it to happen so quickly. He took the corpse from Hagrid's hands and glanced at it.
On its hairy neck, a sharp wound had completely severed its throat, and the spilled blood clung to the nameplate below.
The cut looked like it was made by a sharp instrument, but the force was precise and the angle was perfect.
Something's not right... Sean frowned.
Let's assume that person was very skilled with melee weapons, then why not just chop off the chicken's head? There was no need to be so precise as to only slit its throat...
Was it because of insufficient strength to cut the neck? Or was it a personal habit?
"Hagrid," Sean said, "Go and explain the situation to the professor, then go and get another batch from my father. This time, have Professor Scamander keep one batch, and you raise another batch."
Sean frowned as he watched Hagrid's departing figure.
If the speed is this fast, the supply chain will not be able to keep up. Even if Mr. Wallop is rich and powerful, if this continues, in the end, even if you have money, you won't be able to buy it.
We need to think of a solution...
Sean was a bit of a headache. If only he could use a video recorder, he could monitor the chicken coop all the time. However, within the Hogwarts Castle grounds, nothing electrified worked; only mechanical creations could function properly.
Hagrid couldn't keep watch over the entire time either, partly because it was unsafe, and partly because he couldn't maintain a high level of concentration and focus all the time.
Hmm? Sean's eyes lit up.
If Hagrid isn't suitable, we can look for others...
Another batch of chickens arrived, and the people responsible for loading and unloading looked distressed, but they had no choice but to do it. The students' ability to raise chickens was really poor, and they had to ensure a constant supply.
Once all loading and unloading was complete, Newt packed up his suitcase, gave a few instructions, and left. However, no one noticed a slight ripple in the clear air.
Night gradually fell.
