Even the liquid Dumbledore transfigured could only last a few seconds. No wonder... the Transfiguration murder scenarios he had imagined were practically impossible to carry out.
It was far less cost-effective than Avada Kedavra.
"I don't know where the limitation comes from, but Gamp's Law of Transfiguration was summarized by Gamp, not invented by him. I believe this restriction of Transfiguration may be innate."
Sean nodded in understanding, then asked in confusion, "But, Professor, I don't understand why you didn't explain this in class."
"Speaking of which," Professor McGonagall's expression grew much more serious, "do you know why I asked you to come to my office?"
"I don't, Professor." Sean honestly shook his head.
Professor McGonagall's tone became even more severe. "The reason I don't tell everyone is simple: to deepen their impression and make them remember that Transfiguration is rigorous and serious magic. More restrictions, coupled with severe consequences, are what restrain those restless young hearts."
Her gaze shifted, and Sean suddenly felt like a student who had been daydreaming in class and caught the attention of the dean watching from the corridor outside the window.
"Mr. Wallop, during my lesson, you immediately associated Transfiguration with... another use." She chose a gentler phrasing, but her gaze remained stern. "Powerful imagination combined with outstanding logical ability—I suppose there is a reason your Transfiguration Talent is so exceptional."
The ever-calm and composed Sean finally gave an embarrassed smile. So, he had been kept behind because Professor McGonagall was worried he would go astray...
Professor McGonagall stared at him severely for quite some time before finally handing over the notebook she had taken out.
"When you were in class, you were somewhat like I was back then..." Professor McGonagall's face suddenly softened. A nostalgic look appeared in her eyes as she touched the worn notebook in her hands. "These are some notes from my school days. They aren't especially advanced, but they should be of some help to you."
"Professor, this is far too valuable." Sean hurriedly rose to his feet.
Professor McGonagall smiled, making no effort to hide the appreciation in her eyes. "This is not favoritism. It is my expectation of you. If you can absorb what is written here and demonstrate it to me, you may offer some help to your classmates as well."
Sean looked at his Transfiguration professor and ultimately accepted it.
"I promise you, Professor, that I will always treat Transfiguration with rigor and propriety," he said earnestly.
"Very good. Do not disappoint your own talent." Professor McGonagall nodded in satisfaction.
After Sean left, Professor McGonagall hurried to the Headmaster's Office on the eighth floor.
"Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans." After giving the password, she passed the Gargoyle at the entrance.
"Minerva, you are in such a hurry. I assume you have discovered something." Dumbledore approached with a smile.
Professor McGonagall let out a breath and told Dumbledore what had happened that day.
"Oh, Minerva, giving a student special treatment is hardly your style."
"Albus, don't forget that this was also your instruction," Professor McGonagall said after steadying herself. "Of course, I also hope to have an outstanding Transfiguration Teaching Assistant in a few years."
"You deserve one. There have been more and more students in recent years. Pomona complained to me long ago that the greenhouses are too small to accommodate so many students now." Dumbledore opened a drawer and pushed a box toward her. "Would you like some Fizzing Whizbees?"
Professor McGonagall looked at Dumbledore with some irritation. "Albus! Those children have all been approached. What exactly are you planning?"
Dumbledore picked up a Fizzing Whizbee and popped it into his mouth, wearing an expression of enjoyment. "Forgive me, but I cannot tell you for the moment. Let us enjoy the sweets before us instead."
When Sean returned to the Common Room, he still found it a little unbelievable. After only one class, he had actually received Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration notes!
His inventory was already displaying the information:
Minerva McGonagall's Transfiguration Class Notes from Her Student Days (Gold)
Sean sighed to himself. Ever since entering Hogwarts, he had felt that he had received quite a bit of preferential treatment. Could it be that his luck had really turned around?
Just then, a figure approached him. It was Hermione.
"Sean, what did Professor McGonagall say to you?" she asked curiously.
Sean thought for a moment, then simply shook the notebook in his hand.
"What is tha—" Hermione was briefly puzzled, then her eyes widened at once, and even her voice turned shrill. "Are those Professor McGonagall's insights on Transfiguration?"
Sean nodded and lowered his voice. "Don't tell anyone yet."
Hermione looked enviously at the worn but neat notebook in his hands and nodded seriously. "Don't worry. I won't say anything."
Seeing how eager she looked, Sean smiled. "Once I've mastered it, and Professor McGonagall agrees to let me teach others, then if you need it, I can..."
"Of course, Sean!" Hermione excitedly threw her arms around him.
"Oh, Hermione..." Sean blinked, not expecting this thing to make Hermione so... enthusiastic?
The girl's face turned red, and she immediately let go of him.
"I-I'm just very grateful to you."
Sean gave her a reassuring smile. "I understand."
Their gazes met, and in the end, they smiled at each other.
From then on, Sean's life at Hogwarts suddenly became busy. They took Herbology Class with Slytherin, learning under Professor Sprout, the Head of Hufflepuff, how to care for those strange and magical herbs and fungi. Every Wednesday night, they used telescopes to observe the starry sky, learning the names of different stars and the orbital paths of planets.
With Professor McGonagall's notebook to help him, Sean's Transfiguration proficiency improved by leaps and bounds. While others were still practicing turning matches into needles, he had already begun trying to turn mice into snuffboxes.
However, Potions gave Sean quite a headache. Of the two subjects in which his talent was not particularly high, he was progressing fairly well in Charms Class, especially with Hermione's help.
But Potions alone was different. He could never brew a perfect potion, no matter how meticulously he followed the steps in the textbook.
What surprised him instead was that Harry's fame suddenly soared, because in Potions, he received the Felix Felicis that Slughorn had not given away for a long time.
The Weasley brothers declared that if Harry let them lick the cork of the glass bottle, they would be willing to lick Harry's shoes...
But none of that was within Sean's concerns for the moment. After becoming familiar with the paths around the school, he secretly slipped out of the dormitory late at night.
He had been coveting the Room of Requirement for a long time.
