At the Malfoy Manor, wizards dressed in black robes and wearing masks gathered once again in the hall.
Sean, sitting at the head of the table, gently stroked the Occamy's cool, smooth body. He lowered his head slightly and remained silent.
None of the Death Eaters dared to utter a sound; they all knew that the capricious Dark Lord had just lost one of his most trusted servants.
In a chilling atmosphere, Sean stroked the Occamy for a while, then gently released it, letting it swim onto the long table.
Occamy aren't actually a type of snake, and Parseltongue can't communicate with them. The understanding between Sean and the Occamy Naja comes entirely from their long time together; Naja's intelligence allows her to easily understand Sean's intentions.
The metallic scales glided across the spotless, luxurious long table. The room's light shone on the Occamy's scales, the slightly dazzling light stimulating each Death Eaters around the table.
The Occamy's body was slowly expanding. It didn't have the inherently frightening aura of snakes; instead, it possessed a dreamlike beauty.
But the Death Eaters all knew that if the man at the head uttered even a single syllable, the beautiful creature before them would entangle and crush their target into a pile of minced meat.
The Occamy crawled to the end of the table, then suddenly flicked its tail, causing its body to swell again, eventually encircling the entire long table and the people sitting around it.
The atmosphere became even more eerie.
Sean tapped his fingers lightly on the edge of the long table a few times. "Alright, my friends, doesn't anyone want to say anything to me?"
Barty Jr. gave the others a cold look, then stood up and looked at Sean: "Master, there's a traitor among us..."
The moment the word 'traitor' appeared, the Death Eaters all looked at their companions with fear and anger. In this uncoordinated organization, anyone could betray them.
Sean nodded casually. "Barty, at least you've been thinking, that's good... Come on, explain it to these idiots around you."
Barty smiled cruelly, "The Lestrange Brothers were arrested because they tortured several Muggle to death many years ago. That matter was not exposed at the time, and the Ministry of Magic did not find any flaws in their actions. Now that it has been brought up again after so many years, ha, did the Lestrange Brothers report themselves?"
Sean slowly stood up and walked to the table, pacing back and forth behind each person's chair.
"Look, look at my loyal friends, the expressions on each of your faces are so angry. Can I take that to mean that none of you have betrayed me?"
No one answered.
Sean walked up behind a tall, burly man with a fierce and dull-witted face, who was about the same height as Sean even when sitting down.
"Corban? What do you think?" Sean gently patted Corban Yaxley on the head.
The large, bear-like creature shrank back, timidly lowering its head so that its master's arm wouldn't have to lift it so laboriously.
"Great master, my loyalty to you will never change..." he said, trembling.
"It hasn't gotten worse..." came the thought from Dave Swooping Evil in the inner pocket of the robe, who was helping Sean keep an eye on the Sneakoscope.
Very few Death Eaters dared to betray him, largely due to Voldemort's extremely high level of Legilimency. Sean naturally didn't have that ability. He had originally considered using the High-Precision Sneakoscope he'd won in Lottery Draw to identify them, but at the first gathering, he discovered that the Sneakoscope would light up and rotate when facing each person present.
He didn't understand how Sneakoscope works, so he had to give up the idea in the end.
But after several gatherings, especially after he punished several Death Eaters, Sneakoscope finally stopped treating these people "equally."
For example, when Sean gets close to Barty Jr. Crouch., the Sneakoscope almost stops rotating; when he gets close to Bella, it stops rotating completely; and the same is true when he gets close to the Malfoy.
Through this, Sean understood some of the reasons. The Death Eaters present had already accepted Sean, and in their eyes, Sean and Voldemort were already synonymous, so the evil thoughts in their hearts had been suppressed.
The extent of the glowing rotation can prove a person's loyalty to Voldemort.
Sean had just circled around to the right, and everyone had triggered the Sneakoscope to some extent. This was actually normal, since Voldemort relied on his personal warriors to suppress his members.
The only exception was Regulus, positioned to his side, his Sneakoscope spinning wildly, enough to imagine his actions against Sean —no, to be precise, against Voldemort. Regulus would be detrimental to Voldemort.
This was within Sean's expectations, but he wasn't sure which side Regulus was spying for. He had wanted to ask Professor Dumbledore about it before, but he hadn't been able to find him while traveling back and forth through the Vanishing Cabinet, so he had to leave it at that.
If Regulus was a spy for the Wizarding United Guard, it would make sense, since he was previously in charge of liaison with the France and had access to those people.
But this involves Regulus's own situation.
In the original storyline, Regulus did not serve Voldemort for long. It only took him a few years to see through Voldemort's true nature, and then he bravely perished together with a Horcrux.
Now, the situation has changed drastically...
After considering it, Sean decided to leave Regulus alone for now; it was more important to catch the other spy under the current circumstances.
He bypassed the trembling Corban Yaxley and walked behind the next person.
Sean had barely gotten a little closer when Dave sent him a message: "The Sneakoscope is spinning at high speed, and it's very bright!"
"Got him... "Sean squinted at the wizard in front of him.
Evan Rosier, one of the core members of the early Death Eaters and a member of the Rosier family, is related to Vita Rosier. He previously proposed attacking Ron's two uncles, the Prewett brothers.
Tsk, there was definitely something wrong... Sean slightly curled the corners of his mouth.
The other side was eager to expose the Death Eaters to the light of day...
Sean gently patted Evan Rosier on the back. He didn't rush to make a move and walked away under the other's trembling gaze.
After walking around, he found that most of the Death Eaters, just as he had expected, were afraid of Voldemort and harbored their own schemes, but had not yet taken any concrete action.
Sean memorized the names of several people who had received strong warnings from the Sneakoscope. He looked up, glanced at Regulus, and then waved to Barty Jr..
"Master." Barty Jr. approached.
Sean pressed his Dark Mark, then leaned back comfortably.
Barty Jr. received the message instantly. He lowered his eyes slightly, pursed his lips, and hid the cruel smile on his face.
He straightened up and looked at the Death Eaters, pointing at a few of them. "You, you, you, and you, come with me. My master has given me a temporary task."
The people whose names were called exchanged nervous glances, but finally stood up and followed Barty Jr. outside.
After they left, Sean turned to Regulus with a contented look. "My friend, how have you been lately?"
The other person lowered their head. "Master, your return is my greatest joy."
A dazzling green light shone outside the window, and the remaining Death Eaters looked at the window in terror before immediately turning their heads away and lowering them.
Sean smiled warmly, "That sounds really nice... Regulus, tell me, how should we deal with the traitor?"
A flicker of fear flashed in Regulus's lowered eyes, but he simply lowered his head even further and said calmly and coldly, "Of course, he should be punished with the harshest measures."
Sean clapped his hands with a smile, and the crisp applause echoed in everyone's ears, "You're right."
The door was pushed open again, and the men who came out had cold eyes. They dragged a broken and twisted body in, and then threw it away like trash.
Evan Rosier, looking like a tattered sack, lay before everyone.
He died, and all sound vanished.
Sean gave a nervous laugh, clapping slowly as he looked at Malfoy: "Lucius, aren't you going to thank me? I even had him taken outside so as not to dirty your beautiful hall."
Lucius glanced at the lifeless Evan Rosier and immediately nodded. "Thank you, Master."
Sean chuckled. The main reason was that he hadn't prepared much beforehand. If he couldn't burn Evan Rosier to death like he did the first time, he would be suspected again.
Fortunately, Barty Jr. is loyal and clever enough that he understands his owner's reluctance to do anything.
Sean carefully stepped over Evan Rosier's body, which slowly turned into black smoke, before leaving behind his last words.
"I will handle Bella's matter. No one is allowed to make any rash moves until I give them orders. Continue with your current tasks."
"Yes!"
The Death Eaters bowed respectfully to see their master off.
Sean, who turned into black smoke, quickly disappeared into the night sky. After confirming that no one was following him, he appeared on a small hillside.
Grindelwald's figure slowly emerged, a smile on his face, "All done?"
"Um."
Grindelwald glanced at him, then smiled even more broadly, "The magical fluctuations were minimal, you didn't do anything yourself, did you?"
"Yes, sir."
"Very good, very good. You are beginning to understand what I have taught you. By utilizing the power at your disposal, you can achieve the same results in many things without having to lift a finger."
Sean shrugged. "I can't achieve the same effect by doing it myself. I'm only a second-year student."
"It was only a matter of time before you reached my current level, and besides, I'm not as powerful as you imagine," Grindelwald said with a smile, suddenly uttering these words.
He stood at the top of the hill, looking up at the moonlight. The scene reached Sean's eyes, and he suddenly felt a sense of desolation.
Not that powerful... Sean pondered the meaning of those words for a moment, then stood beside the other person and said, "Sir, you seem to be... um, um..."
He pondered for a long time but couldn't find a good adjective. Instead, Grindelwald smiled nonchalantly and took over the conversation, "Melancholy?"
"No, not really... I just feel like you're not in a very high mood." Sean scratched his head.
"As you get older, you see more and have more feelings," Grindelwald said with a smile.
Sean turned his head to look at the smiling old man, and suddenly felt a sense of disorientation.
When he first met the other party through the Vanishing Cabinet, he was terrified of him, and the other party clearly did not disappoint him. Although he did not harm Sean, his attitude showed his indifference towards Sean.
Over time, especially during their time together in Newmontgard, he taught him magic, how to See Through Hearts, and how to act. Before they knew it, they had become much more familiar with each other. Although he would still use magic to shut Sean up when he was unhappy, the meaning behind his actions was completely different.
Sean suddenly realized that, from fear to admiration, Grindelwald was now a trustworthy mentor in his eyes.
This old man really has a lot of personal charm... Sean habitually muttered to himself, then plopped down on the ground.
"Teacher," he changed his form of address, "Perhaps you could talk to me?"
The change in address made Grindelwald raise an eyebrow slightly. He shook his head with amusement, then kicked Sean in the backside. "You're getting better and better at pushing your luck."
Sean rubbed his buttocks without any regard for his image and said nonchalantly, "You taught me well, didn't you?"
Grindelwald stroked his short beard smugly. "That's the truth."
"Super narcissist..." Sean rolled his eyes and continued, "Teacher, I've never really known what kind of role I play in your eyes. Do you see me as a key figure in the Prophecy? Or a tool in your duel with Professor Dumbledore? Or perhaps, the inheritor of your ideals and ambitions?"
Grindelwald narrowed his eyes slightly, but he still laughed wildly and unrestrainedly.
Sean didn't turn around and continued, "But that doesn't affect my attitude towards you. Although it might sound arrogant for a second-year student to say that to the most powerful wizard in history, I do consider you a trustworthy elder. So I think if you have any thoughts, you might want to talk to me about them."
Grindelwald stood next to Sean, paused for a moment, and then said in his uniquely unrestrained yet magnetic tone, "The most powerful wizard in history... I'm sure you secretly added 'one of' in your mind, haha, but you did a pretty good job of flattering me."
"It's out of necessity, please understand," Sean said with a grin, hugging his knees.
Grindelwald laughed loudly, put his hands behind his back, looked up at the night sky, and said slowly, "Sean, do you know what my ideal is?"
"Liberate wizards and let them live in the sunlight, while Muggle should be enslaved—but I must say, I disagree with the latter part."
"What's the use of your disagreement?" Grindelwald retorted first, then laughed. "At first, I thought of a way to detonate the bomb inside you early, so that the Sin would come down to cleanse this world. Maybe that's a good option."
"Huh?" Sean was dumbfounded.
