Brainwashing the Young Master
"Draco, I understand what you're thinking." Sean looked relaxed, showing no sign of being offended.
Malfoy was somewhat surprised, but he still explained, "I didn't mean to look down on you..."
He regretted it halfway through his sentence, thinking rather angrily: Why did I have to explain it to him?
Sean chuckled and put his arm around Malfoy's shoulder, "Listen, buddy, I know what kind of family you come from, so I don't expect to change your mind with just a few words."
Malfoy shifted uncomfortably; he had always felt that he didn't need to change.
Sean continued, "Excuse my bluntness, Draco, but what do you think are the advantages of Pure-blood Wizard?"
Malfoy raised his head arrogantly almost without thinking.
"Pure-blood are born noble, and bloodline is our advantage."
Sean gave a playful smile, "Specifically, Draco, where do you see the specific advantages of Pure-blood?"
Malfoy choked, momentarily at a loss for words.
When Sean asked the question, his thought was the same answer he had just given, which came to mind subconsciously. But once Sean pressed for details, he was somewhat annoyed to find that he couldn't answer it.
Talent? The Sean in front of him is second in the grade, and his friend, the brown-haired Hermione Granger, is not Pure-blood either; she is first in the grade.
Connections? Indeed, his father was on good terms with many high-ranking officials in the Ministry of Magic, even seeking the Malfoy Family's support during his ministerial election campaign. But what about Sean? A person with absolutely no magical background, how many people had he made connections with in less than three years?
Although Malfoy was proud, he wasn't stupid. Take Sean's friends, for example. That rascal from the Potter family, while detestable, undeniably held considerable power in the Potter family Wizarding World. And that round-faced fool from the Longbottom family —his parents were Auror Malfoy Family disliked but dared not easily provoke. Even in Newmontgard, there were people willing to befriend him; the Golden Dawn Club, founded by Sean, had absorbed many outstanding wizards, including quite a few Pure-blood.
That's not the key point. Sean is such a charmer; the professors at school adore him. Even Grindelwald, whom his father has always admired and even looked up to, is quite fond of Sean.
Aside from talent and connections, what else is there to talk about? Financial resources? Although that guy doesn't enjoy the sound of Galleon clinking in his pocket like I do, he doesn't hold back when it comes to spending money, sometimes even more extravagantly than I am.
Malfoy searched around, trying to articulate the specific advantages of Pure-blood, but ultimately discovered, to his dismay, that in the face of Sean, Muggle-born wizard, bloodline seemed to prove nothing.
This infuriated Malfoy, who had always considered himself superior, and he angrily slapped Sean's hand away.
"What's there to say? Pure-blood are born noble; this has been common knowledge among wizards for thousands of years! Do you understand common sense?"
Sean didn't seem to mind at all and put his hand on hers again, raising an eyebrow. "Hey, buddy, I think you've got it all wrong."
"What misunderstanding?" Malfoy asked proudly.
"You've misunderstood the interpretation of Pure-blood —no, to be precise, a great many people, including your parents, your friends, and your friends' parents, have misunderstood it..." Sean slowed down and lowered his voice.
Malfoy immediately glared at him.
Sean smiled slightly, "Hey, Draco, do you remember when I disappeared for a while in second year?"
"Why bring this up? I was still regretting it for a long time when you reappeared," Malfoy sneered.
Aren't you curious where I went?
Who cares about this?
"Tsk tsk..." Sean revealed a mysterious smile. He waved his wand, and the classroom door was locked firmly, the curtains were drawn, and the whole room became dark.
Malfoy was taken aback by Sean's actions, and he immediately realized that Sean might be about to tell him some earth-shattering secret.
"Well, I saw him—" Sean deliberately dragged out the last syllable, until Malfoy had unconsciously leaned in to listen, before he whispered the answer, "Salazar Slytherin ..."
"How is this possible?!" Young Master Malfoy looked at Sean in alarm, his proud demeanor completely gone.
Sean smiled faintly, "Of course it couldn't be Slytherin himself, but I entered his memory fragments."
"What... what did you see?" Malfoy didn't want to believe it, but after a moment's thought, he realized that Sean was probably telling the truth.
The other party's disappearance was too sudden, and the professors' initial behavior didn't seem like Sean had gone out on some secret mission. He clearly remembered that Professor Dumbledore's expression was still very serious the day after Sean disappeared.
The only thing that could keep Professor Dumbledore from finding Sean, and that is still inside the castle, is something related to the Four Founders of the school!
Sean smiled slightly, and his voice became serious.
"He told me about the history of Pureblood Wizard, even mentioning the Malfoy Family, for example—the exact location of the Malfoy Manor and how it was hidden..."
Upon hearing the address Sean gave him, Malfoy's eyes widened in shock.
Their manor had always been hidden, and it was impossible for Sean, who came from the Muggle Family, to know its location—he was telling the truth, he really did see Slytherin!
He's taken the bait... A sly glint flashed in Sean's eyes.
Immediately, he showed a regretful expression and sighed deeply.
"What's wrong?" Malfoy asked immediately.
"Alas, Draco, do you know? Even in death, fragments of Slytherin's memories continue to observe this castle—"
"How is this possible?!" Malfoy exclaimed, his eyes widening in horror.
"Don't believe me? If you don't believe me, go to your Common Room at midnight, find the stained glass with Slytherin's Portraits on it, and look closely. There's a small, bright green Little Snakes at the ankle—you can tap it gently, and then you'll hear Slytherin's whispers from the past..."
Malfoy's chest heaved twice. Such a detailed description made him completely believe Sean, even though he hadn't seen it with his own eyes.
"What... what did Slytherin say?" he asked eagerly.
Salazar Slytherin was a spiritual leader to Pure-blood Wizard.
Sean shook his head regretfully. "Perhaps it's better if you don't know."
"Why? Hey, Sean, I'm mature enough."
Sean hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded.
"He said—" Sean's tone was tinged with disdain and disappointment, "A bunch of idiots."
"How... how could this be..." This answer caught Malfoy completely off guard.
"The later Pure-blood have forgotten the essence of bloodline..." Sean imitated Slytherin's aged yet powerful voice, "They only know how to emphasize their bloodline, but have forgotten the most important thing..."
Malfoy nervously swallowed.
Sean had already stood up. "I, Salazar Slytherin, founded Hogwarts, established the Chamber of Secrets, and led wizards into a new era. I, and my students at the time, were proud of our bloodline—but!"
"Those who came after have forgotten! Noble bloodlines are born, but they have not made good use of them! Wizards are the vessels, and bloodlines are merely bargaining chips for glory!"
"Laughable fighting, ignorant pride! When all that's left in the mouths of Pure-blood is bloodline, who will still acknowledge the nobility of bloodlines! The actions of these fools are degrading the status of Pure-blood!"
Sean suddenly turned around to look at Malfoy, startling the man into taking a half-step back.
"Originating from Slytherin, pride, ambition, shrewdness, power, and that serpentine, deep decisiveness—ah, foolish successors, how dare a Slytherin who is not even good at seizing profits call themselves sophisticated pragmatists?"
"If I were still in this castle, I would definitely go after these fools and mediocre people who failed to teach them properly. You are simply defiling this pure bloodline!"
Sean regained his composure and patted the dazed Malfoy: "That's exactly what he said."
After a long while, Malfoy sat down weakly and muttered, "How could this be..."
After Sean and Malfoy had a chance to process what had happened, they approached him and asked, "Hey buddy, are you alright?"
"I... I'm fine... it's just..."
"I understand that Mr. Slytherin's words are indeed not very pleasant to hear—but I must say, sorry, man, I agree."
Instead of glaring at Sean, Malfoy fell into self-doubt.
"Sean, you said, I..." He didn't finish his sentence.
The person in front of me isn't even of Pure-blood.
Sean saw right through Malfoy's thoughts. He sat down and looked Malfoy straight in the eye. "Look at me, Draco. Let me make this clear first: I don't agree with your theory of noble bloodlines, but I think I might have a way to at least make you better, to make you more worthy of the bloodline you're so proud of."
Malfoy looked at him with a puzzled expression.
Sean smiled slightly, softening his tone, but his contempt was still clearly palpable. "Think about it, Draco —let's take the example before us, Umbridge."
"Isn't she Pure-blood Wizard? And isn't her behavior biased towards Pure-blood Wizard?"
Malfoy nodded.
"Think about it carefully, my friend," Sean chuckled dismissively, "Putting aside her biases, just consider her methods. Were they clever? A high-ranking prosecutor in the Ministry of Magic was completely outmaneuvered by me—you witnessed everything, but have you ever wondered why I approached you first when I arrived at the Slytherin table?"
Before Malfoy could even think, Sean immediately said, "Because I know you understand what I mean. You're smart enough, and you know—in the face of the glory of Hogwarts and Slytherin, in this oldest and purest castle, does an outsider who isn't smart enough and only rose to power through flattery deserve to stand in that position? Does she deserve to command us, the future of the Wizarding World?"
"You know perfectly well that she doesn't deserve it, right? Even among Pure-blood, there are distinctions of rank... And!" Sean emphasized, "I believe that if you and I switched places, you could quickly come up with such a simple solution, and you too could stand in the center of the Great Hall and receive the cheers of your classmates..."
Malfoy's breathing quickened as the images Sean had described began to replay in his mind.
Yes, Sean's method wasn't difficult; he understood it quickly... and that Umbridge, ugly and fat, dumber than Troll, how could she be worthy to command the great Slytherin students?
Sean's deep, seductive voice seemed to magically penetrate Malfoy's ears. "Think about it, think about the others. That Osman, you know him better than I do, don't you? How incredibly stupid he is! Just because Umbridge showed him favor, he's put himself against the entire school, even thinking of bringing more Slytherin students along—he's destroying your ancient honor..."
"That's right, that idiot." Malfoy said through gritted teeth. He had long disliked the man, who used to order him around just because he was older.
Sean smiled and continued to coax, "Draco, now that you know all this and have thought everything through, do you understand Mr. Slytherin's teachings?"
Malfoy hesitated for a moment. "To restore Slytherin's glory?"
"As expected of Malfoy," Sean, making no attempt to hide the admiration in his eyes. "All you have to do is regain your glory."
"But what should I do?" He hesitated, then rubbed his hands together impatiently.
Sean raised an eyebrow. "I happen to be good at making friends, so I'd rather tell you this than other Slytherin students."
"Because I know that you are eager to prove yourself, to prove that you deserve the glory that comes with your bloodline, and that you will not disappoint Mr. Slytherin's expectations."
"Sean ..." Malfoy was completely moved. "Wallerup understands me so well!"
His gaze toward Sean was filled with eagerness; he even wanted to apologize.
"Hey, listen, back when we first met..." Malfoy somewhat awkwardly, his voice slow and hesitant.
Sean waved his hand casually. "It's just a small misunderstanding. You don't think I'd take it to heart, do you?"
Actually, if you hadn't behaved so well usually, I would have given you a few more beatings.
Malfoy breathed a sigh of relief. It was really difficult for him to apologize to someone, but thankfully Sean was truly a friend worth having.
"Then what should I do?" he asked eagerly.
Sean smiled, leaned closer, and whispered something in the other person's ear...
After a while, Malfoy, his face flushed with excitement, stood up because of the future scenario Sean described.
He took a deep breath, reverting to his arrogant demeanor.
See you next time.
Sean smiled and waved, "Looking forward to your good news."
Sean didn't leave the classroom until Malfoy had been gone for a while.
Shortly after Sean left, a stone wall in the hallway outside the classroom began to move.
Little Aiken revealed himself, licking his lips with a cold smile.
