"Voices"
The world will hear... Sean instinctively shut his mouth.
He clearly asked about Grindelwald's age being incorrect, but Dumbledore said the world would hear...
Moreover, Sean immediately remembered that the time when the world began to change was the time when he discovered that Grindelwald's age was not right—and Grindelwald himself had also discovered this!
Most importantly, Grindelwald himself seems unaware of this...
Sean was filled with a thousand thoughts, and in the end, he could only look to Dumbledore, hoping that the other could give him an answer.
"Sean," Dumbledore began, "You should know Eloise Minttab?"
Sean nodded; he certainly knew Eloise Mintab, the Unspeakables who had traveled back five centuries.
Dumbledore continued, "I think you should also know..." He gestured, pointing to a decorative hourglass in the office.
"Time—" Sean started to speak in confusion, but then stopped abruptly.
"Can't you tell?"
Dumbledore nodded. "The world is very sensitive right now. It's best not to mention such a crucial item, or your teacher."
As he spoke, he picked up the hourglass. "When you use the hourglass to go back, normally you'll be in the place where you were before. In this case, it usually takes a maximum of five hours to get back. As long as you don't do anything out of line, after five hours, this trip will be considered a perfect end."
Sean understood the implication in his words and frowned, saying, "Elois Mintab, she obviously couldn't have lived for five centuries. Although subsequent examinations at the Ministry of Magic showed that her body had aged considerably since returning to the present, she did indeed stay for five days before returning. This means that if one were to go back... well, to a very distant past, there are ways to return besides simply passing through time, right?"
Dumbledore nodded. "Yes, magic. With special magic and a bit of luck, one can return. But the marks of time cannot be erased..."
Just as Dumbledore finished speaking, the whole world trembled again, as if a slumbering dragon was about to awaken.
However, Dumbledore just smiled helplessly, "You see, that's how sensitive I am."
"Because... an indelible mark?" Sean asked hesitantly.
"Yes," Dumbledore gazed meaningfully into the distance, "The marks cannot be erased."
Sean fell into deep thought. Now, it was quite obvious that Grindelwald had definitely traveled back in time, and judging from his performance on the Age-Measuring Ball, he hadn't actually returned to the present after going back in time...
Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the world is so sensitive.
Dumbledore seemed to guess what Sean was thinking, and he smiled slightly, "The world is always listening to the voices of everyone's soul, but it only listens..."
He turned to Sean and said, "I know you must have a lot of questions right now, but I'm sorry, I can't answer them for you..."
After hearing Dumbledore's words, Sean fell silent.
He looked up slightly and saw the dozen or so Pensieve in front of him and the huge silver fluff floating above.
A vast amount of memory, the kind that requires a dozen or so Pensieve to decipher—this kind of memory could very well be a person's entire life.
Sean had seen this sentence in the manuscript of the master maker of the Pensieve: "This individual erases the path he has walked in this world with his own hands, so that the world will forget his existence."
Dumbledore has clearly been deciphering these memories... Grindelwald is clearly confused about his situation...
Sean suddenly looked up, staring in shock at the vast expanse of memory.
"This is... this is his? Professor?"
Dumbledore didn't speak, but his silence said it all.
Sean turned his head, licked his dry lips, and asked tentatively, "So, Professor, it's not just because of some Unbreakable Vow, but also because of this memory, right?"
Dumbledore remained silent, but the world answered him.
Just as Sean mentioned "this memory," that feeling of unease flashed through his mind again.
A very bold guess popped into Sean's mind!
However, before he could think further, Dumbledore spoke first, "Sean, I know you've always been very clever—I've hesitated for a long time about whether, well, to let you discover some things."
"However, this decision still needs to be made by you... Do you remember what I told you about some key points of Prophecy? I told you that the more people know about it, the more likely the Prophecy will come true. And a wizard like me—though it's not very modest to say that, a powerful wizard like me is more deeply entangled with the world, so my will and my thoughts will, to some extent, influence whether the Prophecy comes true or not."
"And now, regarding time—" the world shuddered again, and Dumbledore paused before continuing, "The same applies."
Sean paused for a moment, then immediately realized what was happening.
Therefore, Dumbledore is being so cautious because the world's time disturbances, like the Prophecy, will be more affected by more powerful wizards, whose "voices" will be louder.
Therefore, even if Dumbledore knew the truth, he could not reveal it, because if he did, the world would immediately hear a tremendous commotion.
But now, Dumbledore is letting me decide...
Because...I possess Pride within me, I essentially have a tremendous "voice" in this world. In other words, if I were to follow Dumbledore's guidance and uncover the truth of the whole affair, the world would be shaken.
Having figured all this out, Sean looked up at the other person, considered for a moment, and said, "The more truth I see, the bigger the commotion in the world will be, right?"
Dumbledore didn't speak, but a smile of appreciation appeared in his eyes.
Sean thought for a moment, then said in a deep voice, "You came to me, which proves that perhaps only I can do this... So I want to know, if I find what you want me to find, what kind of impact will it have?"
Dumbledore's tone also turned serious, and he said in a deep voice, "There will be an impact, but it will be within an acceptable range."
"What will happen if I don't do it?" Sean continued to ask.
Dumbledore shook his head. "I can't give you a definite answer. Maybe it won't have any impact, or maybe the key to this whole thing will lie with you."
"If I could, I wouldn't want to hand this over to you. It's not that I don't trust you, but I think you shouldn't have to bear so much of the burden. This is a problem that the old men should be handling."
Sean raised an eyebrow. "Professor, if you put it that way, then I really won't care anymore."
Dumbledore suddenly laughed, "Sean, you haven't changed a bit..."
Sean pursed his lips; those old men always liked to say strange things.
He stretched his body, then sighed helplessly, "You shouldn't have made that Unbreakable Vow... Actually, I guessed something when you said it just now."
"Elois Mintab, should my first stop be the Department of Mysteries?"
Sean straightened his collar.
Dumbledore looked quite amazed. "Sometimes, I have to marvel at your keenness, Sean."
"That's because dealing with you requires so much brainpower, it's become a habit, Professor." Sean shrugged.
"You're making me feel ashamed, child," Dumbledore said, sounding somewhat helpless.
"Aren't you going to tell me about your plans? You can't just let me barge into the Ministry of Magic like this, can you?" Sean spread his hands. "After you were elected president, the British Ministry of Magic showed some dissatisfaction—it's been infiltrated by those inhuman bastards?"
Dumbledore, neither confirming nor denying, and simply said, "All wizards would have sensed the strange movements in the world just now..."
Sean immediately understood.
The wizards were all busy investigating this big commotion, whether it was the official institutions in the open or the Returners hiding in the shadows.
Therefore, now is the best opportunity to fish in troubled waters...
However, having noticed this unusual activity, shouldn't the Ministry of Magic have checked the relevant information with the Department of Mysteries?
Sean glanced at Dumbledore, who looked completely unconcerned.
He shrugged and finally decided not to ask any more questions and to trust the other person.
Sean took one last look at the massive memory floating above the Pensieve, then walked toward the spiral staircase that had returned to normal.
He paused as he descended a flight of stairs, turned back to Dumbledore, and asked, "Professor, have you two really broken up?"
Dumbledore's eyes flickered, and finally revealed a smile that was hard to decipher... or perhaps it was a smile...
"The traces will tell you the answer."
Sean knew that Dumbledore couldn't say it even if he wanted to, so he shrugged and left the Headmaster's Office.
After Sean left, Dumbledore turned to look at his memories and sighed almost imperceptibly.
On the wall, a portrait of a school principal speaks, "Albus, I've told you before, you shouldn't always think about doing everything on your own. This anomaly was an accident."
Dumbledore took off his glasses and wiped them, showing no sign of frustration or disappointment.
"The fact that I'm standing here is the biggest surprise... If it weren't for being unplanned, if it weren't for being completely unexpected, it wouldn't be considered a surprise..."
The principals looked at each other, and one of them sighed and said, "I even thought something terrible was going to happen today."
Dumbledore smiled, put on his glasses, and his wise gaze shone through the lenses. "His ideas are very unconventional... but he always knows what's important and what's urgent... especially since he did it himself... he couldn't be unaware of that."
"And then what? Even if that child discovers the truth, will he be able to find a solution?"
Dumbledore voice, "It already makes me feel very ashamed to ask him to do these things now... Don't forget, he's only in his third year."
The word "third grade" silenced everyone. Finally, Phineas muttered, "Not for long..."
When Sean walked out of the Headmaster's Office and into the corridor, the first thing he looked out the window was the night sky, which had seemed to press down on him, and now it was back to normal.
However, the castle did not fall into slumber as usual; instead, it was brightly lit everywhere, and every young wizard sensed that something was wrong.
"This is a huge problem..." Sean muttered.
He turned his head and saw a petite figure standing in the shadow of the curtain.
"Are you waiting for me?" Sean said to Stephanie.
The girl nodded and said quickly, "This information might be useful to you... When those strange things happened today, Professor Dumbledore immediately came to me. He seemed to know that you and I both had access to the Room of Requirement, and then asked me to take him to see you."
"My feeling is that Professor Dumbledore didn't seem to have anticipated this, and he was in a hurry when he found me. But—" Stephanie pursed her lips, "On the way, he told me that he hoped I wouldn't hold a grudge against Mr. Grindelwald ..."
Upon hearing the name Grindelwald, Sean instinctively looked up at the night sky, but thankfully, the world didn't react this time.
It seems that Stephanie knows very little about the whole thing, so even if she mentions key figures, the world won't hear about it.
He glanced at the expressionless girl, shrugged, and said, "You noticed it back then?"
Stephanie nodded. "I only told him, so..."
Sean sighed, then spread his hands. "Let me put it this way, my teacher, he's that kind of person. He can sacrifice everyone for a goal, including himself. I don't think he's right, but unfortunately, he probably won't change."
"So—" Sean smiled, "Don't take Professor Dumbledore's words to heart. Although he may have just mentioned it out of some ulterior motive, he always overlooks one thing: his status makes even a casual remark carry weight. It's unfair of him to say that to you and to make demands of you. Whether you hold a grudge or not is up to you."
After saying that, Sean waved his hand. "I have something to do. You go back to sleep first. Good night."
Then, he disappeared from the spot.
Stephanie stared at the spot where Sean had disappeared, her eyes flickering, her expression unreadable.
"Where's the data? Hurry up!"
"The negotiations with the Muggle Prime Minister are ready..."
"Over there, hurry, hurry!"
Late at night, the Ministry of Magic, which should have been deserted, was bustling with noise, as lively as a market.
No one could ignore this huge anomaly, and employees who had already left work were recalled and put to work.
"Department of Mysteries." A cold female voice rang out, and the golden gate opened, but no one wanted to leave.
The employee in the elevator pressed the close button in surprise, thinking that he should call someone from the maintenance department to check the elevator. He didn't notice that a small black worm had slipped out.
The insect slipped into a dark corner, and with a very faint sound, a figure suddenly appeared on the spot.
The Trajectory Flash is even more useful than I imagined... Sean, whose appearance had changed, raised an eyebrow and then disappeared into thin air.
