Sean's First Lesson
In the Transfiguration classroom for the younger students, the youngest group of Hogwarts students were whispering among themselves.
Although they were still first-year students, they had already changed into second-year uniforms. Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic covered the expenses for the new student uniforms. However, what most people didn't know was that a certain Wizarding Welfare Organization provided a large portion of the Galleon.
"Professor McGonagall hasn't come yet?" a student whispered to his classmate.
"She's never late, and besides, it's not time for class yet."
"I was chatting with a senior student before, and it seems like we have a few Transfiguration that conflict with the schedules of other grades?"
"Sigh, the number of courses has doubled after all... But what about the time conflicts? Hogwarts doesn't have another Transfiguration. Does Professor McGonagall know that kind of spell that creates clones?"
"Don't be silly, how could there be such a curse..."
As the students were discussing in hushed tones, footsteps sounded outside the door.
Throughout Hogwarts, Transfiguration and Potions have always maintained a strong sense of "oppression," so the moment the footsteps sounded, all the students immediately sat up straight and obediently looked at the blackboard.
The classroom door was pushed open, and instead of Professor McGonagall, whom they both respected and feared, stood a tall, handsome young man who was even wearing the fourth-year uniform of Hogwarts' Ravenclaw school.
"Senior Wallerup?" many people exclaimed in confusion.
Although they only actually spent six months at Hogwarts, the name Sean Wallerup was heard almost every day.
Despite being born into the Muggle Family, he was one of the best students in the school, and many people would quietly remove the "one of" from his name.
He always ranked second in his grade in exams, with his best friend Hermione Granger in first place. Some people have already started speculating when the two will start dating, while others are betting on his other friend Daisy Potter.
He is impeccable in physique, appearance, and interpersonal skills, and is even a second-generation rich kid. Every year on his birthday and Christmas, he receives so many gifts that they could overwhelm him, which speaks volumes about his popularity.
Moreover, praise for Sean Wallerup was frequently heard from the professors, at least many times. Even the stern and authoritative Professor McGonagall would occasionally mention him.
Of course, this is not what Sean Wallerup is most famous for. He is most famous for participating in an Academic Exchange program with Newmontgard when he was a sophomore.
Then, he not only demonstrated strong combat skills, but also won first place in the Newmontgard Day competition, which included senior students.
He can even communicate with Fire Dragon...
Gellert Grindelwald, the former headmaster of Newmontgard, a former wanted criminal, and now the new president of the International Confederation of Wizards, also favored him greatly.
Not long ago, when Dark Wizard attacked Hogsmeade and Hogwarts, he joined the battle and repelled the villains.
It's fair to say that Sean Wallerup's fame at Hogwarts has become outrageously high.
"Sean—?" Several freshmen who were familiar with Sean had already stood up to greet him.
"Good day," Sean replied with a smile.
Immediately, many people looked at the students who greeted Sean with surprise, and those students also showed a slight smug look.
In fact, you'll know that Sean is an easy-going and polite person once you talk to Sean a few more times.
Walking to the front of the class, Sean placed the textbook that Professor McGonagall had given him on the table and then began to speak.
"Please allow me to introduce myself. Sean Wallerup, currently a fourth-year student at Ravenclaw House. As for why I am here, the reason is quite simple."
"Many of you who have learned about the course information from other grades should know that the Transfiguration course has a time conflict. Professor McGonagall cannot teach students from two grades at the same time. So I took on this task. From now on, I will serve as Professor McGonagall's teaching assistant and be responsible for your Transfiguration course."
As soon as he finished speaking, the students started making a fuss.
Hogwarts rarely has teaching assistants. The only occasional need for assistants is for some outdoor classes, and those are usually Prefect or Hagrid.
Sean, a fourth-grade student (actually only a third-grade student), was able to become a teaching assistant for the course "Transfiguration".
Although he's called a teaching assistant, he's actually a professor for lower grades.
It's worth noting that Transfiguration is arguably the most difficult course at Hogwarts.
Although Sean was very famous, he was someone they had never met before, and some students, especially young wizards from Pure-blood families, were already looking at him with distrust.
Sean ignored those stares; he knew why he was there.
Completing the task Professor McGonagall assigned him was the most important thing; he wasn't there to build relationships with these younger students.
"Alright, I've said what I needed to say," Sean glanced at his watch. "With everyone's time gone by for a year, I'm not going to waste precious study time with repetitive statements."
He didn't plan to take attendance; after all, any student who would dare to skip Professor McGonagall's class probably hadn't been born yet.
"Turn to page 123 of the ' Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration'— " Sean said.
Despite their doubts, Professor McGonagall's influence remained strong, and the students obediently followed her instructions.
"Professor McGonagall told me that you have begun to study the most basic Vertebrate Transfiguration —can anyone tell me about your specific progress?"
Transfiguration other people for years, and with his confidence, Sean got into character very quickly, already displaying the authority of a professor.
Several people raised their hands.
Sean pointed to the nearest young girl. "This one, Lavie Press? I remember you're from Gryffindor..."
The little brown-haired girl with freckles immediately stood up. "Yes, sir."
Please answer this.
"Oh, we've only just begun learning about Vertebrate Transfiguration. In the last class, Professor McGonagall mainly taught us the key points to pay attention to during Transfiguration, but we haven't actually done any practical exercises yet."
Sean nodded, gesturing for her to sit down. "Okay, I know your progress. That 123 pages is almost done... Can anyone tell me what the biggest challenge is in Vertebrate Transfiguration?"
This is not in the book, but Professor McGonagall must have mentioned it, and students who took careful notes would know it.
Sure enough, every grade has its top students, and it was the same few people who raised their hands again.
"This?"
"Sweene Hill, sir, Hufflepuff," said the short, dark-haired boy with glasses. "The biggest challenges in Vertebrate Transfiguration are twofold. First, the more complex skeletal and body structures make the Transfiguration process unstable. Second, the animal's spine is a difficult point to handle. We need to treat the object Transfiguration as a whole when Transfiguration, but in practice, we often exclude the animal's spine. Professor McGonagall said this is Transfiguration obstacle caused by the large skeleton."
"On the other hand, there is restoration. When Reparifarge, people who are not skilled enough may fail to restore it, but I don't know the specific reason for this."
Swayne Hill spoke at length, describing things in great detail.
Sean nodded. "Very good, Mr. Hill, Hufflepuff two points. The second point is very well added; a successful Transfiguration must include both Transfiguration and restoration steps."
"So--"
Sean waved his wand.
The curtains in front of the classroom windows fluttered, breaking free from their restraints and rising into the air.
With Sean's Transfiguration, they twisted and combined together.
Then, a huge rat skeleton appeared before everyone's eyes.
"Wow—" someone exclaimed quietly.
Sean walked over and tapped it with his wand; the spine emitted a faint glow.
"When we study Vertebrate Transfiguration, we usually start with mice. So today we'll use the mouse skeleton as an example to see what we need to pay attention to in this kind of Transfiguration."
"We can see that the spine occupies a very important and very special position in the overall skeleton..."
Just as Sean was explaining the key points of Transfiguration, two people outside the door were silently nodding.
"Albus, I told you long ago that Sean would be a perfect teacher." Professor McGonagall, who should have been teaching, appeared outside the classroom at some point, with Dumbledore had not been seen for a long time, standing beside her.
Dumbledore smiled and nodded, "This boy is never shy, and he always manages to grasp the most important aspect... Oh, to visualize the shape and skeleton in one's mind during Transfiguration and then combine them—that's a good idea."
Professor McGonagall also exclaimed, "Yes, his foundation in Transfiguration is very solid, and sometimes he can even grasp some unique little tricks of his own, which he is very generous in sharing..."
"Yes, yes... Oh, his first lesson was even better than my first lesson when I was a professor of Transfiguration..."
"It's better than my first lesson," Professor McGonagall agreed.
The two watched for a while longer. In the classroom, Sean, having finished explaining the key points, had already given everyone a little mouse.
This lesson involves having them try to transform a mouse into the simplest wooden block.
"Your name." Sean, who was patrolling the classroom, pointed to a Slytherin student.
"Bram Led, sir," the thin boy replied slowly.
"Mr. Led, this is Transfiguration, not a class about poking mice with your wand. I emphasized this three times in my explanation: when you are just starting out, do not touch the object of your Transfiguration with your wand. It is a dangerous act, because magic will...?"
Led replied impatiently, "Magic can potentially affect a wizard through the wand after coming into contact with the object of the Transfiguration —but that's a danger that only occurs if the Transfiguration fails."
As he spoke, Led poked the old book again, then waved his wand and turned the mouse into a wooden box.
"Look, sir," Led said, shrugging.
Sean smiled and said, "Well done, Mr. Led. It seems you have a good grasp of the subject. I'll give Slytherin five points."
However, Led's smile froze halfway through.
"However, I don't want anyone to disobey my orders in class, because you just poked the mouse again, Slytherin loses seven points," Sean said with a smile.
"This is not fair!" Led was obviously a Pure-blood, the kind of young master who was always spoiled at home. He might still show respect to the professor, but he clearly did not when facing Sean.
Sean raised an eyebrow. "Talking back to the teacher, two points deducted."
"You..." Led gritted his teeth, then muttered, "What makes you so sure you're right? My father never said that..."
"It's a pity your father isn't the new teaching assistant," Sean, still smiling.
He pointed his wand at the wooden box that Led had just Transfiguration.
"Reparifarge— " The wooden box transformed back into a squeaking black rat.
Led snorted, "At least the Transfiguration I learned was very successful."
"Really?" Sean pointed at him. "What's that on the right side of your chin?"
"What..." Led subconsciously touched it, and then touched a stiff, short hair.
"Ouch—what are you doing..." Led suddenly felt a sharp pain as Sean plucked the hair from his head with his wand.
He was about to explode when his eyes widened.
It was a short hair, exactly the same as the one on the mouse on my table!
"Can you guarantee your Transfiguration will always be successful?" Sean blew away the hair.
"But...but that doesn't matter..." Led replied habitually, but his voice grew softer and softer.
Sean stopped looking at him, walked up to everyone, and then suddenly swung his wand.
A hazy image appeared in mid-air: a wizard casting a spell on a tiger. Like Led, he liked to poke the tiger, but after the Transfiguration ended, he immediately collapsed to the ground screaming in agony.
The students stared in horror as they saw the man's body twist in a bizarre manner, while the tiger was reduced to a mangled corpse.
The screams gradually turned into a hoarse sound like a tiger's roar, and a bizarre monster with a hint of human and tiger shapes appeared on the screen.
After seeing all this, some timid girls covered their mouths.
"This is what happens when Transfiguration fails—" Sean said calmly.
"The first lesson I learned from Professor McGonagall was to Revere Transfiguration. And I don't want to teach you this lesson, which you should all keep in mind, over and over again—" Sean glanced at Led, who was clutching his chin, "Because it's something you absolutely must remember before you use Transfiguration."
Sean swung his wand sharply, and the bizarre monster in the image was instantly cleaved in two, blood splattering everywhere. The students in the front row leaned back in terror, as if the blood would actually fly out.
"Monsters conjured by Transfiguration are fundamentally different from Magical Creatures. I hope that in the future I won't use this magic on any of you."
The classroom was completely silent, and Led had already slumped down with his head.
Sean smiled easily, "Got it? Let's continue the lesson."
