The Boy and the Girl
In response to Daisy's question, Sean popped another cookie into his mouth.
He said somewhat vaguely, "My intuition is usually pretty accurate, and besides, that little girl is much better than Capen."
Under the tree, two teenagers, each with their own thoughts, were staring at each other awkwardly and stubbornly.
Their shared childhood experiences allowed them to discover certain clues about each other.
"Capen is hiding something from me..."
"Milani is hiding something from me..."
The same thought popped into both of their minds at the same time.
Ironically, they each believed the other to be an ordinary person, while they themselves were about to become a wizard.
They may only see each other once a year in the future, and as they get older, their lives will become even less intersecting, and they will become people from two different worlds.
However, they cherish this friendship, which is still going on for now.
"If I tell anyone, will Milani think I'm a freak?"
"If I tell anyone, will Capen think I'm a freak?"
For eleven-year-old boys and girls, this is not an easy choice to make.
In the awkward atmosphere, Capen was usually more vulnerable and insecure, spoke first.
"Milani, I'm going to school in a place that's very far away..."
Milani looked at the other person with a complicated expression.
Capen is going to study in a faraway place, does that mean we won't see each other during holidays?
The little girl hadn't yet learned to hide her emotions; her sadness was clearly visible on her face.
This threw Capen off balance; he hadn't expected that Milani would become so unhappy so soon after he'd only just started.
"I... I didn't run away from home..."
"Pfft."
Sean and Daisy, who were eavesdropping, burst out laughing.
"Sean, your little apprentice is really interesting." Little White Flower's eyes narrowed into slits.
"Don't flatter me. I didn't take on any apprentices. I just gave them some notes as a side effect." Sean shrugged.
After getting to know Capen, Sean made time for him every day to remove the Obscurus seeds. The two became more and more familiar with each other, Sean had a good impression of this well-behaved boy and indeed had the idea of nurturing him properly.
However, Sean is not prepared to completely replicate his experience for the other party. This is his own path. For a young wizard like Capen, whose natural magical power is so great that it can suppress a nascent Obscurus, Sean's path may not be entirely correct.
So, Sean chose to write down general, basic knowledge in a beginner's notebook and gave it to Capen. Of course, it also included many of Sean's new insights and tips about spells.
After Daisy learned about this, she jokingly referred to Capen as Sean's little apprentice.
Sean naturally denied it. If you become someone's teacher, you have to be responsible for their learning career. This is not like being a professor in a school, but more like taking on a student to inherit one's mantle in ancient and medieval times.
He's willing to be a guide, but he's not ready to take full responsibility for the other person's life.
Under the tree, the awkward atmosphere between the young boy and girl turned into Capen's utter helplessness.
After that Christmas gift exchange, their relationship blossomed, but now they're facing a new problem, one that Capen is not good at dealing with.
Milani's eyes were filled with sadness. She pursed her lips and asked in a low voice, "Capen, a few years from now, a decade from now, will we still be like this?"
Capen hesitated, instinctively shrinking back, hesitant to make a promise.
But immediately, Sean's face appeared before his eyes.
"I believe a sincere friend is worth maintaining the relationship with care."
Remembering Mr. Wallop's encouragement, Capen took a deep breath and became resolute.
"Milani, yes, we will always stay in touch, and we will always be best friends."
Capen's words startled Milani for a moment, then her eyes lit up.
"Um!"
After a firm reply, Milani took a deep breath and then grabbed Capen's hands.
"Capen, it's settled then."
A blush crept across Capen's face, but he did not back down, instead firmly grasping the girl's soft hands in return.
"I, Capen Roman, will never break my word!"
Daisy watched with great excitement, much like a young girl watching a romantic teen drama. She nudged Sean's elbow and said, "Not bad, Mr. Wallop, you guessed pretty accurately."
Sean raised an eyebrow proudly. "Of course, Miss Potter —but Capen's getting bolder and bolder. He even dared to grab Milani's hand. When I first met him, he was too shy to accept Milani's kindness. Tsk tsk tsk, the kid's grown up."
"You're only a few years older than him," Daisy said, covering her mouth and laughing.
"According to England law, I could get married right now," Sean retorted casually.
Daisy's beautiful eyes narrowed into slits, and she curled the corners of her lips into a smile, "Really? I feel like Capen is a bit bolder than someone else."
Sean's smile froze on his face. He awkwardly turned his head, coughed twice, and said with a forced smile, "It's alright, it's alright."
However, Daisy didn't press her advantage. Instead, she moved even closer and said with a grin, "It's okay, we're still young~"
"You little brat." Sean glanced helplessly at the lively and adorable Little White Flower. Ever since Daisy's Blood Curse and Obscurus were removed, she had gradually developed from a mild-mannered first-grader into a more and more mischievous and clever girl.
However, this is clearly Little White Flower's true personality, and her mischievousness is never annoying.
Under the tree on the other side, the two children, who had just confirmed their feelings for each other, stared at each other in a daze.
It took them a while to realize that their hands were still clasped together.
The two of them jumped back like startled groundhogs, their faces turning bright red.
Capen put his hands behind his back, his fingers intertwined, as if the warmth of the girl's hand still lingered in his palms.
Oh no, was I being rude? Mr. Wallop told me to be a gentleman to girls...
While Capen was in a state of great distress, Milani recovered first.
"Capen!"
The girl's clear voice interrupted Capen's thoughts, and he hurriedly looked up at her. "I'm sorry, Milani."
Milani wrinkled her nose and said with dissatisfaction, "What's there to apologize for!"
"Ah?"
"Aren't we best friends?!"
"Ah, yes, yes!" Capen paused for a moment, then smiled somewhat embarrassedly.
Milani also gave a sweet smile, then hesitated for a moment before her eyes became firm.
"Capen, there's something I need to tell you. I've thought about it many times. When I tell you, will you think I'm a... freak..."
Capen looked at her, wanting to shout, "No matter what you become, you'll always be the best Milani in my heart!" But he held back, letting the girl finish what she had to say.
Milani's eyes showed hesitation and apprehension. "I... I'm going to study in a place far away, but I'm not going to a private school, and I'm not going to study... ordinary courses."
She took a deep breath. "I... I'm actually a witch..."
Before she could finish speaking, another gentle and cheerful male voice rang out.
"Miss Locke, although our Admissions Officer didn't explain this to you formally, he must have mentioned it briefly. It seems like we shouldn't say this, right?"
Capen immediately recognized the familiar voice and turned around abruptly.
The handsome young man was looking at the two of them with a slightly serious expression, with a beautiful young woman beside him.
"Mr. Wallop!" Capen exclaimed.
"Mr. Wallop ..." Milani was taken aback at first, then her face turned pale.
"In a few days, my supervisor, who is in charge of this recruitment campaign, Sean Wallerup, will come to explain the next steps to you."
Milani remembered what the Admissions Officer had said a few days earlier.
Oh no, she'd just been caught by a wizard... Milani's face grew even paler, and she glanced at Capen with resentment.
At the same time, she also had a question in her mind: why did Capen know this Mr. Wallop?
"Miss Locke, don't you think you should give me an explanation?" Sean said.
Milani gritted her teeth and lowered her head. "I... I'm willing to accept the punishment..."
Before he could figure out what was going on, Capen panicked when he heard that Milani was to be punished. He rushed to Sean's side and asked, "Mr. Wallop, why are you punishing Milani? She didn't do anything!"
Then he lowered his voice and said anxiously, "Sir, I haven't told anyone that I'm a wizard."
Sean glanced at him casually. "If I hadn't shown up here, would you still be saying this to me two minutes from now?"
Capen lowered his head in shame.
He was indeed ready to tell Milani his true identity.
On the other side, Milani saw Capen lower his head after their hushed conversation, and then she saw Sean's indifferent expression, and she suddenly became anxious.
"This, this Mr. Wallop, it was my own decision to say this, it has nothing to do with him."
"Oh? So that's how it is..." Sean cleared his throat, but just as he was about to speak, his mouth was covered by the warm palm of the Little White Flower.
"How old are you to bully a child? Aren't you ashamed, Mr. Wallop?"
Feeling Daisy's soft hand, Sean let out a few sobs.
You seemed to enjoy watching it before...
Milani stared at the scene in shock, then immediately realized that this incredibly beautiful girl was also a wizard!
However, this girl looks slightly familiar; she resembles the beautiful lady from the Potter family inside the valley...
Daisy released her hand from Sean's mouth, then stood between Capen and Milani and said to them, "He was just kidding."
"Ah?"
"Ah?"
Both of them simultaneously uttered a sound of doubt.
Sean shrugged, then cleared his throat and said in a serious tone, "Mr. Roman, Miss Locke, I greatly admire your steadfast affection, and your mutual acknowledgment of responsibility is also touching. However, there is one problem."
Roman and Milani both looked at him.
Sean pulled out two train tickets. "You two are wizards."
After a moment of silence, Capen and Milani turned to look at each other almost simultaneously, their faces turning as red as shrimp boiled in hot water.
"Goose, goose, goose, goose—" Daisy, who had just been playing the role of a righteous big sister, started honking like a goose without any regard for her image.
Sean clapped his hands, and two tickets flew into the hands of two people.
"That's how it is. Well, I think you'll probably need another 'long talk'—we're off now. Oh, and come find me inside the Potter family after we're done talking. The magic at the door is open to you."
Daisy waved her hands, trying not to laugh too loudly, "Goose, goose, goose, bye-bye! Remember to come to my house, it's my and my brother's birthday today, please have some cake, goose, goose, goose—"
After the two leisurely "mischievous" wizards had walked away, Capen and Milani were still awkwardly staring at each other.
The sun is high in the sky, and Scotland has been enjoying bright sunshine lately.
The warm sunlight filtered through the leaves and fell on the two people's faces, dappled light and shadow flickering between their eyes and noses.
"Pfft—"
Suddenly, the two of them burst out laughing.
"Mr. Wallop, I... I looked at the list. Um, do I need to demonstrate magic when purchasing those items?"
In the courtyard behind the bar, Capen asked Sean nervously.
Sean patted the other man on the shoulder. "Capen, this is a very simple shopping trip. Don't be nervous. You don't need to do anything. Now, just enjoy the wonder of magic. What do you say, Milani?"
Milani, standing beside them, nodded proudly, though the tension in her eyes was clearly visible.
Yesterday, the two little ones finally arrived at the Potter family. Having never witnessed a wizard's birthday celebration before, they were dazzled by all the magic and spent the entire afternoon sticking to Sean, asking him all sorts of questions.
This situation even continued today when I brought them to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies; Sean had answered almost a hundred questions that morning.
Capen asked most of the questions, but Milani listened attentively and occasionally asked one or two strange questions.
Originally, Capen and Milani were supposed to come with their parents, but Mr. Roman, who adopted Capen, was a Squib and had many bad memories of Diagon Alley, so he entrusted him to Sean. Milani, knowing this, decided to come along as well.
Sean happened to need to buy things for the next school year, so he happily took on the task.
"By the way, Mr. Wallop, where Potter family? Aren't they coming along?"
Sean was pointing at the bricks with his wand. "Remember these bricks, you'll need them later—as for Daisy and the others, they'll probably just use Floo Powder."
The bricks moved, and a path gradually appeared before the two wide-eyed people.
Sean smiled. "Welcome to the world of magic."
