Sin Vessel
What Reinhardt Nott said was Sean hadn't expected.
Sean had assumed that, regardless of whether it was a trap or not, some useful information would be released. However, he did not expect the news to be so explosive.
He had never heard of the so-called Eight Great Families in Ancient Greek. Generally speaking, all the families in the Wizarding World that could be called families were Pure-blood. Moreover, many Pure-blood families could not even be called "families." Some huge ancient houses only had a few family members, and it would be more accurate to call them Pure-blood families. Among them were lone wolves like Slughorn. Sean had never heard of this Walrus Professor having any other family members.
While Ancient Greek occupies an extremely important place in the history of wizards, it is often the Seer who are famous, and their descendants are not referred to as a certain family.
Reinhardt, however, put forward a so-called Eight Great Families, which happens to be the same number as the eight birds in the fable—except for the Dove, the other birds are most likely accomplices in the killing of the god...
Do the descendants of those accomplices possess special magical powers?
According to Reinhardt, this magic, in a certain special way, is even related to Sin?
The unexpected news made Sean even more focused.
The conversation between the two continued in the storage room.
Theodore Nott was clearly unaware of the Eight Great Families and the Sin Reinhardt Nott spoke of, but he, who had always been proud of his noble bloodline, keenly sensed that he seemed to be getting closer to some truth—the truth about why the blood flowing in his veins was so noble.
"If the Sin you're referring to are those in the Muggle world, I have heard of some..." he replied calmly.
Reinhardt chuckled. "Theodore, your performance doesn't quite meet my expectations—think about it carefully, how many of the myths and legends in the Muggle world actually originated from our Wizarding World?"
Upon hearing this, Theodore narrowed his eyes. "The Sin you speak of, are they the same as the Seven Deadly Sins I know?"
"Things? Oh, oh, my friend—" Reinhardt made an exaggerated expression, "They would probably be quite unhappy if they heard you say that."
Now it was Theodore's turn to be completely shocked.
"Them?! You mean, Sin truly exists, and they... no, they are gods?! That's impossible..."
Reinhardt was pleased with Theodore's shock. "There's nothing surprising about that. Besides, they are not gods. The real gods are beyond our imagination. Of course, the existence of Sin is also far beyond our imagination."
Sean, who was listening to the conversation between the two, frowned. Sure enough, the Returners were very knowledgeable about Sin. So it seemed that Reinhardt was indeed a member of the Returners, and he was well aware of the existence of Sin.
But why did he say these things to Theodore Nott?
Theodore Nott took quite a while to process the other person's words about Sin, the Eight Great Families, and so on, before he asked impatiently, "How do you know all this? Aren't you a long-lost descendant of the Nott family?"
"Oh, oh, you were just saying that you haven't acknowledged that I am of the Nott family bloodline yet, my friend..." Reinhardt laughed sarcastically.
Theodore blushed slightly, but he remained calm. "This doesn't conflict with my question."
Reinhardt didn't dwell on that point, and after a slight sarcasm, continued, "By relation, I'm probably your cousin? Never mind, nobody cares about that... First, you need to understand one thing, my friend. It's not me who's been exiled, but you, the Nott family of England, who are the bloodline that's been exiled."
"I know that." Theodore frowned. "The Nott family originated in an ancient place, but the original main family has been completely wiped out."
"No, no, no," Reinhardt shook his finger. "The Nott family suffered a major blow back then, but besides your bloodline, there were survivors who lay dormant."
"You keep saying how noble the blood flowing in your veins is, but you don't understand what makes the blood in our veins so noble."
Theodore fell into deep thought, then looked up and said, "Our bloodline... is it related to Sin?"
"Not too stupid... The existence and origin of Sin are beyond the reach of young people like us, but I can tell you one thing: the Nott family is naturally suited to the magic of Sin."
"The magic of Sin?"
Reinhardt smiled and nodded, "The magic of Sin is nobler than the magic of ordinary wizards. This nobility stems from the nature of the magic. Even Dumbledore and Grindelwald, who are incredibly powerful, are still ordinary wizards. The magic within them may be comparable to dozens of us, but the nature of their magic is no different from others. The only difference is that they can use it better. Sin is completely different. It comes from a higher level of magic that can give wizards more powerful and unfathomable strength. This kind of magic only exists in the essence of Sin. But as descendants of the Eight Great Families, the Nott surname represents a ticket that ordinary wizards can never buy—we can contain the magic of Sin and transform the nature of the magic within us into a higher level."
Sean, who was listening intently to the conversation between the two, was suddenly startled. Just now, a familiar yet unfamiliar magical fluctuation appeared!
Reinhardt's voice came through. "Can you feel it? This magic, this wonderful power, comes from Sin..."
Sean's breathing suddenly quickened. This guy really is a vessel of Sin!
Although the magical fluctuation just now was extremely small, and could not be felt at all unless one was very close, Sean still clearly sensed the source of that power from that slight fluctuation.
Sin, absolutely Sin!
Just like the magic he had felt when he fought Thomas, it possessed properties completely different from other magic!
In an instant, Sean almost couldn't resist taking action and restraining Reinhardt Nott.
But he ultimately held back.
In the storage room, Theodore, who was closest to the door, stared wide-eyed.
Just now, he personally experienced that peculiar power that was completely different from his own magic. It was unique, more special, more powerful, and of course, more fascinating.
He asked almost impatiently, "You've absorbed that power? How... how did this come about? I've never heard of Sin appearing in this world before. What are they like? No, no, no, I should say, why does Sin appear... no, no..."
As he spoke, he became incoherent, the sudden shock to his worldview plunging Theodore Nott into a state of excitement and confusion.
However, he eventually found the core of the problem.
"Then why did you suddenly contact me?"
Whether the other party wants to Nott family's genealogy or wants the Nott family to "recognize their ancestors," it would obviously be better to discuss such matters with his father Old Man Nott. Moreover, the timing of the other party's approach is also strange. It wasn't when he first enrolled, nor was it when the two of them were in the same place for the first time. Instead, it's now.
What time is it now? The Triwizard Cup is being held, and half of the semester has already passed, while Reinhardt Nott in front of me has just been lying in the Hospital Wing for more than a month.
Wait, he's been lying down for over a month... Theodore looked at the other person, his eyes showing wariness.
"If you have such great power, why were you still defeated by Wallerup..."
He wasn't stupid; on the contrary, he thought more than others.
According to the other party, the power of Sin is obviously much stronger than the magic of ordinary wizards, so why was Reinhardt beaten so badly by Wallerup?
There are only two possibilities. First, the so-called Sin is not as powerful as the other party described. Second, and this is the key point, is that using the power of Sin may come at a huge price...
Reinhardt moved closer, staring intently at Theodore: "Buddy, isn't the answer obvious? What's His name? Yes, Sin— "
"Ha, you don't actually think that possessing such power comes without paying any price, do you? Besides, how could such Sin power possibly appear openly before everyone?"
Reinhardt's answer made Theodore swallow hard; this so-called Sin seemed even more... bizarre than he had imagined.
Sean narrowed his eyes. He had assumed Reinhardt would reveal to Theodore that he was Pride, but the latter hadn't... The Returners must know he was Pride, yet Reinhardt hadn't said it...
Of course, Theodore was clearly not qualified to access more or deeper secrets, but it seems that something else can be deduced from it— Prophecy.
The more people know about the Prophecy, the more likely Prophecy is to come true... Could it be that the Returners is also worried about the Prophecy coming true?
This is interesting...
Reinhardt continued, "Let me answer your other question, why I came to you..."
"Before I told you, you had no idea about the existence of the Eight Great Families and the Sin. Although it is an ancient secret, you should be able to see some clues— the Eight Great Families are dwindling in number, and we are severely understaffed. Obviously, we need fresh blood..."
"Don't ask me why I didn't approach your father. To put it bluntly, your father has lost his ambition. Doesn't he know about the Eight Great Families? No, he does. The Nott family's genealogy must have records of it. But he didn't tell you, nor did he even try to contact the other families. Your father isn't qualified to participate in such a grand plan..."
Reinhardt put his arm around Theodore's shoulder, and this time, the latter didn't shake him off.
The former's tone was seductive and meaningful. "Theodore, this world ultimately belongs to those in power, but those in power don't just reach the top by bloodline... We need young people, we need guys who are more ambitious and capable... Ha, I think you're pretty good, very good."
Theodore took a deep breath, recalling the magic he had just experienced. In an instant, a mix of emotions surged within him, the strongest of which was Envy.
Yes, he was Envy, Envy of those who knew the deeper secrets he didn't know, Envy of those who possessed greater power... And as a child, he should have shown anger at the other party's evaluation of his father, but his heart told him that the other party was absolutely right.
My father is too old, too conservative, and too... incompetent.
Although he didn't know what the grand plan Reinhardt was talking about was, Theodore's strong emotions told him that he had to get involved and participate in this grand plan.
Otherwise, despite his noble bloodline, he would only be able to live a mundane life like other wizards, which he was unwilling to accept...
"Then, what do you want from me?"
The idea of "fresh blood" was just an excuse. Theodore knew perfectly well that the other party had come to him because they needed his help.
"Smart—" Reinhardt snapped his fingers in satisfaction.
Things went even more smoothly than he had imagined, but he didn't know...
Reinhardt discreetly observed his surroundings, but found nothing unusual.
However, according to information he received from Leon Schneider, Wallerup had already acquired the ability to monitor the behavior of others within Hogwarts Castle.
In other words, Wallerup has most likely already learned of everything he's been doing and everything he's said...
Wow, that's so interesting...
Reinhardt gave a strange smile and patted Theodore on the shoulder, "It's not your turn to step in yet, but I hope you'll be there when I need your help. At that time, you will come into contact with the real secrets and learn how to develop your own bloodline. A great plan awaits you."
Theodore's breathing quickened slightly as he tried to calm himself, but the turmoil in his heart made him lose his usual composure.
"When? What do you want me to do?" he asked impatiently.
"No rush, my friend, but before that, you need to do this..."
Sean, who had been eavesdropping on their conversation, frowned. Suddenly, the storeroom fell silent.
Naja sent back a message that Reinhardt had handed a Memory Bottle to Theodore, seemingly not intending to say something important in person.
A moment later, Reinhardt, disguised as someone else, left the storeroom and hurried toward Durmstrang's large ship, while Theodore Nott also quickly left the area.
Watching the two figures disappear quickly, Sean hesitated, wondering if he should ambush Reinhardt and capture him.
However, Thomas within his own ring had already proven one thing—all the Returners had Unbreakable Vow, and directly seizing them wouldn't yield crucial information...
Finally, Sean turned his attention to Theodore Nott.
Meanwhile, Reinhardt, back on the Durmstrang ship, approached Leon Schneider.
"As you said, I've already handed the things over to that idiot."
