The Solution

Sean furrowed his brow, his gaze on the black box filled with uncertainty.

If his guess was correct, did that mean the being currently sealed by the Obsession Entity was not actually on the Returners' side?

Sean fell into hesitation. If he ignored the Obsession Entity before him, it would not be long before the suppressive effect of the Runes array weakened and the being inside was released. That would inevitably become a huge problem—and although Sean's mastery of Runes was not particularly high, he could still judge from the fluctuations of magic that Louis's awakening had greatly accelerated the loosening of the suppression.

The Runes array might completely collapse in half a month. It might be ten days. It might be five days. It might even be tomorrow.

But if he intervened, he had no particularly good solution at present. He only had a conclusion he had inferred himself, and if that inference was true, perhaps Sean could try waking the being in advance and communicating with it.

After thinking for a moment, Sean took out the Deluminator.

This was too important. He needed to discuss it with Grindelwald.

He pressed the switch, and with a snap, the Deluminator absorbed every source of light in the Chamber of Secrets. Then Sean pressed the tip of his wand to the top of the Deluminator. After a moment of distortion, he entered the Mirror Dimension created by the Deluminator once more.

The Mirror Dimension was no different from the outside world, except that observing the outside from within gave everything a strange refracted quality.
