This winter seemed exceptionally cold. With only a few days left until Christmas, the snow outside Hogwarts had nearly buried the castle.
"How many times have I told you?! No magic in the corridors!" Filch came running over, panting. He wore a somewhat ridiculous padded coat with lace trim, while Mrs. Norris huddled against his chest.
He shouted furiously at Sean.
Sean spread his hands. "I'm terribly sorry, Mr. Filch, but if I don't use magic, I'll catch a cold. Giving Madam Pomfrey unnecessary trouble isn't a good choice, is it?"
As he spoke, the wand in Sean's hand never stopped moving.
He was clearing the thick layer of snow from his coat.
Filch was nearly driven mad. "You're a wizard! Couldn't you conjure yourself an umbrella or something while walking outside?"
"Oh, right. I'll do that next time." Sean said with a smile. He finished clearing away the snow, then cast a spell to warm himself up.
Filch pointed a trembling finger at him for a while before finally storming off. Soon, his furious yelling could still be heard.
"Hey, you lot! First-years! Stop right there!"
Daisy was brushing snowflakes from her woolen hat. "Filch has gone to pick on someone else again—you deliberately provoked him. It's not like he can do anything to you."
Sean smiled and had Daisy spread her arms. As he used warm magic to make her toasty again, he said, "He was already furious after everyone went crazy during the coming-of-age ceremony. Then he finally caught me breaking school rules, only for Professor McGonagall to brush it aside so casually—no magic with wands? That rule is ridiculous.
