The Dark Lord's Guidance
Sean stepped onto the dueling stage and, at Riddle's request, stood opposite him.
"Don't be nervous, Mr. Wallop," Riddle's voice was reassuring.
Even Sean had to admit that Tom Riddle, with his nose, possessed an approachable charm in both appearance and aura.
If he hadn't known how crazy the soul beneath Riddle's handsome exterior was, Sean might have now regarded Riddle as a trustworthy elder.
Riddle stepped back a few paces and explained to everyone, "Before the duel, both sides must bow to each other."
The two bowed to each other.
"Mr. Wallop, attack me with every spell you can think of, in every way you can find. Don't worry about anything." Riddle stood there gracefully with his hands behind his back, not even taking out his wand.
"Professor, isn't this a bit inappropriate?" Sean looked somewhat troubled, his hand gripping the wand loosely.
"Oh, Mr. Wallop, don't worry, even if your spell hit me." Riddle's smile was gentle.
"But..." Sean still frowned, seemingly very resistant to the idea of 'taking action against the professor'.
Riddle, instead, tried to comfort Sean: "Give it your all. This kind of training is very common in Newmontgard..."
"Acupunct Internus!"
As Riddle turned his face toward the Newmontgard students, seemingly wanting their approval, a troubled-looking Sean simply raised his wand.
A transparent barrier appeared before Riddle, the light of the incantation only causing a ripple. He turned back and continued to smile, "A stunning opening, Mr. Wallop. When facing an enemy stronger than you, a sneak attack is always the right choice, however, the incantation was too loud."
Tsk, the sneak attack didn't work. I even put on an act for a while before finding this opportunity... Sean curled his lip.
"Acupunct Internus!" Without any hesitation, he continued to cast the next spell.
Still no luck. Riddle maintained his elegant stance and didn't forget to give Sean a pointer. "Your speed is fast, but the range of your wand swing is too wide."
"There has been progress, but the angle needs to be more challenging."
"That was good this time, but you could speed up your chanting."
"As I said before, the range of motion should be smaller."
"Maintain accuracy, then try to make your spells a little quieter so that your enemies can't tell which spell you're using."
The situation on the dueling stage became somewhat strange. The two stood still without moving an inch, one continuously casting the same spells while the other effortlessly blocked them and kept instructing his enemy.
Sean had no intention of stopping. After all, Dumbledore had said to learn as much as you can. Riddle thought he was demonstrating the level and demeanor of a professor, but Sean's proficiency was genuinely increasing.
Meanwhile, Sean, taking a moment to check his proficiency, was surprised to find that in addition to gaining some proficiency every time he recited the spell, Riddle's guidance also increased it! Even more!
Oh ho... Sean raised an eyebrow and chanted the spell even faster.
After all, not everyone can enjoy the sparring and guidance from the Dark Lord.
When Sean's head started to throb from chanting the incantation, the Stinging Hex was upgraded.
Acupunct Internus (Dark Arts) Lv2: Proficiency 10/50000, can Silent Casting.
Sean, whose head was feeling dizzy and throbbing, licked his lips. He hadn't expected that a level two spell could Silent Casting.
How come I've already mastered the Silent Casting, which originally required practice?
Sean finally understood the system's greatest use.
He has no bottleneck in spellcasting! As long as he can improve his proficiency, anything is possible!
As for why the proficiency requirement for the next level suddenly increased so much, Sean understood.
If all goes well, once the next level of proficiency is reached, this spell can be Wandless Casting...
Seeing Sean lower his head with some difficulty, Riddle smiled.
"Mr. Wallop, let me teach you another dueling technique: when your opponent is exhausted, the spell will be easier to land."
He raised his wand. "Expelliarmus!"
The spell struck the defenseless Sean, and his wand spun away.
"Lift your head, child, and think carefully about what you've learned from this duel," Riddle said, behaving like a true master teacher.
"I think I've learned a lot, thank you, Professor." Sean, panting, walked to the side and picked up his wand that had been knocked away.
Then he secretly pointed to Riddle, who had turned around to face the crowd and was about to speak.
"Acupunct Internus" was silent; the spell struck Riddle without a sound.
Sean didn't even look at his opponent's expression before jumping off the dueling platform.
"Professor, I have already digested the elements of 'sneak attack' you mentioned."
Riddle paused for a moment, and then all the students were horrified to see a large plume of black mist rise from his body.
The mist rose rapidly, then quickly retreated back into Riddle's body.
He turned around, and the smile he had been wearing disappeared.
"Professor, thank you for your guidance." Under everyone's gaze, Sean bowed and said, as if nothing had happened.
The students of Newmontgard stared wide-eyed. Professor Riddle had been teaching in their castle for many years and had never seen anything like this before.
This Archmage, who in their eyes was second only to the headmaster, was actually outsmarted by a first-year student from Hogwarts?!
Moreover, what is that black fog?
Riddle didn't explain the black mist emanating from his body; it was perfectly normal for a powerful mage to possess various methods.
He Sean, who wasn't meeting his gaze, a deep look, and a smile returned to his face, "Wallerup, you've learned well..."
"You flatter me, Professor." Sean gave a harmless smile.
Snape, who had been observing coldly, stepped forward and said coldly, "Wallerup, because you attacked the professor, therefore..."
"Severus, tolerance is a virtue that every professor should learn, and besides, I've said it before, Wallerup can do whatever he wants." Riddle waved his hand dismissively.
Snape glanced at him and slowly continued, "Then, no points will be deducted... but..."
He changed the subject. "Wallerup, you'll have a little detention tomorrow."
