Four paths lay before him. Sean calmly examined them, then glanced at Little Squirrel ahead.
Unlike the previous illusions, these four paths all seemed to extend from the stone road, and there were no strange symbols on them.
Sean pursed his lips and asked, "Beibei, is this your ability?"
"Yep. Didn't I tell you before we came in—the greatest danger at Peak of Soul's Return comes from crucial choices? But as long as your mind is firm and you can clearly recognize yourself, there's a good chance you'll make it through."
"And even if you fail, Peak of Soul's Return will only 'spit you out.' You'll lose the chance to come again forever, but that's still better than sinking into this place outright, isn't it?"
"But you're different. I told you I can sense many things in nature, right? I can see that you have far too many choices to face, and most of them are extremely dangerous—when others fail, they get 'spat out,' but you'll only start over. However, one failure alone will be enough to make you feel enormous pain and despair. Without the right choice, you'll experience different kinds of despair again and again. By then, even the strongest person will lose the will to go on and willingly sink into this place."
Beibei's tone grew increasingly solemn. "Sean, I can see many things, so I know this is incredibly dangerous for you. If you want to back out now, I can help you. You'll be 'spat out' too, but your life won't be in danger. As a guardian of Elysium Wonderland, I can protect your soul."
Sean looked at the little squirrel. After pondering for a moment, he chuckled. "I have another question. What exactly is the true nature of the Peak of Soul's Return trial?
