Muttering to himself, Sean stepped onto the descending stairs. There were no cobwebs or thick layers of dust here, but the place was utterly weathered, without the slightest trace of life.
The stairs downward were crooked as well, with many sections badly damaged. There were no torches, braziers, or anything similar at either end of the stone passage.
About halfway down, Sean realized that this was not a basement. It should have been the spiral staircase of the Temple of the God of Knowledge—and an upside-down spiral staircase at that.
"Looks like no one's here. The God of Knowledge must have kicked the bucket ages ago..." Reaching the end of the stairs, Sean muttered as he looked at the scene before him.
Just as he had discovered, the place was indeed inverted. Many broken objects had fallen haphazardly to the ground, while some fixed ornaments hung upside down from the ceiling, as though welcoming Sean, their guest.
