Investigating the Traitors

Late at night, in the bedroom, Uchiha Mikoto's skin was faintly flushed after her bath, her body exuding a seductive charm.

She languidly nestled in Uchiha Fugaku's arms like a ripened peach, giving off an enticing sweetness that made one want to take a bite.

"Fugaku, guess what I saw today?"

"Since you returned this evening, you've been in quite a good mood. You must have come across something pleasant."

Uchiha Fugaku inhaled the fragrance of her shampoo and stroked Uchiha Mikoto's long, soft black hair as he smiled.

"I did come across something good."

Uchiha Mikoto said with a slight smile.

"Today, I saw Itachi shopping with a girl. She was a very pretty girl."

"Oh? Did you find out the girl's name?"

Uchiha Fugaku became somewhat interested.

He remembered that Uchiha Itachi had a girl he was quite close to, though he could not recall her name. After all, she was merely a minor passerby with barely any role to play.

"I already asked around. That girl is named Uchiha Izumi. Her father is an outsider, while her mother is from our Uchiha Clan."

Uchiha Mikoto said.

"It was obvious that she and Itachi are very close. What do you think their relationship is?"

"You're worrying too soon. Itachi is only eleven years old. What kind of relationship could they possibly have?"

Uchiha Fugaku said with an amused laugh.

Ninjas were often mentally more mature than others their age, but even so, eleven was still too young to be talking about boyfriends and girlfriends.

"They may not have that kind of relationship now, but perhaps they'll develop one in the future."

Uchiha Mikoto retorted unhappily.

"Yes, my wife is right. But before that, let's give Itachi and Sasuke a little sister!"

Uchiha Fugaku turned off the lights, and soon, sounds embarrassing to hear came from the bedroom.

If Uchiha Itachi had not been brainwashed by the Third Hokage into becoming an ungrateful wretch, then in a few years, he might have developed a romantic relationship with Uchiha Izumi and shared a childhood romance with her.

But unfortunately, Uchiha Itachi had already been brainwashed by the Third Hokage into becoming an ungrateful wretch. He betrayed his clan and would one day raise his blade against them.

The two were destined to have no future together.

The next day, Uchiha Fugaku arrived at the Military Police Force.

"Captain, you sent for me?"

Wearing a green ninja uniform and a black Military Police Force armband, Uchiha Yakumi knocked on the door and entered the office.

Uchiha Fugaku did not answer immediately. Instead, he formed hand seals and cast a barrier ninjutsu.

Only after setting up a soundproof barrier inside the office did he look at Uchiha Yakumi with a grave expression.

"Not long ago, I received news that traitors have appeared within the clan."

"What?"

Uchiha Yakumi's face showed both shock and doubt.

Hearing this news so suddenly, he was profoundly shocked that traitors had appeared within the clan, yet he could not help doubting whether the information was true.

Every member of the Uchiha Clan possessed an immense sense of pride. How could traitors possibly emerge from among such people?

"Captain, is this information reliable?"

"I verified this information personally. It is absolutely reliable."

Uchiha Fugaku said.

"Who is it? Who exactly are the traitors within the clan?"

His voice involuntarily rose because of his rage.

Had Uchiha Fugaku not set up the soundproof barrier beforehand, the sound would certainly have carried outside and been heard by others.

"Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi."

Uchiha Fugaku said in a deep voice.

After careful consideration, he ultimately decided to tell Uchiha Yakumi, whom he regarded as his right-hand man, the crucial news that Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi had already betrayed the clan.

"What? How could it be... those two?"

Uchiha Yakumi's face was filled with shock.

Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi were both the pride of the Uchiha Clan, geniuses in whom the Uchiha placed great hopes.

They had once believed that the Uchiha Clan could reach its greatest heights through the two of them.

Yet they never imagined that these two would be traitors.

He simply could not believe such news, even though it had come from Uchiha Fugaku, the Clan Head of the Uchiha Clan.

"Captain, could there have been some mistake? Shisui aside, Itachi is your eldest son. How could he betray you and the clan?"

"I do not want to believe it either, but it is the truth. Itachi betrayed me, his father, and pledged allegiance to the Third Hokage."

Uchiha Fugaku let out a sigh.

"If the two of them are traitors, then doesn't that mean the Third Hokage already knows about the calls for a coup d'état within the clan?"

At that thought, cold sweat slid down Uchiha Yakumi's forehead.

"That's right. The Third Hokage already knows about the coup d'état."

Uchiha Fugaku nodded gravely.

"What do we do?"

Uchiha Yakumi was anxious and worried, as though the sky had fallen.

Now that the Third Hokage knew the Uchiha Clan intended to launch a coup d'état, he would never simply stand by. He would likely strike first and move against the Uchiha Clan before they could act.

With Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi having become traitors, the Uchiha Clan's current strength would make it extremely difficult to resist.

"Don't panic. Things have not reached that point yet."

Uchiha Fugaku reassured him.

"But, but..."

Uchiha Yakumi's face remained full of panic.

The Third Hokage already knew the Uchiha Clan intended to launch a coup d'état. How could he not panic?

"I only recently learned that Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi had betrayed the clan, while the calls for rebellion within the Uchiha Clan have existed for a long time."

"Since the Third Hokage has not acted against the Uchiha Clan after all this time, it means he does not intend to move against us for the moment."

"Moreover, we are not without a chance of victory. With these Mangekyō Sharingan of mine, the Uchiha Clan is not powerless to resist."

Uchiha Fugaku's eyes transformed into blood-red Mangekyō Sharingan.

At the sight of Uchiha Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan, Uchiha Yakumi relaxed slightly.

He knew that Uchiha Fugaku had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan; he had merely panicked earlier.

With a Clan Head who possessed awakened Mangekyō Sharingan, it would not be easy for the Third Hokage to deal with the Uchiha Clan.

"Then what do we do now? Avoid Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi, secretly convene a clan meeting, and discuss countermeasures?"

"No. We cannot convene a clan meeting. We cannot even tell anyone else this news."

Uchiha Fugaku shook his head.

"Why?"

"Because aside from Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi, there are other traitors within the clan."

"There are other traitors?"

Uchiha Yakumi's face turned livid with rage, and his fists involuntarily clenched.

Aside from Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Itachi, there were actually other traitors within the clan.

"As for the Third Hokage already knowing about the planned coup d'état, I have a way to deal with it. You need not concern yourself with that."

Uchiha Fugaku's gaze was icy.

"I have a task for you. Secretly investigate everyone in the clan qualified to attend clan meetings, and root out the traitors."

"Rest assured, Captain. I will root them out!"

Fury burned in Uchiha Yakumi's eyes.

He would not spare a single one of those ingrates who betrayed the clan. He would expose every last one of them.
