Background / History
The clan begins the story politically isolated and internally divided. At Naka Shrine, many clansmen demand a coup d'état against Konoha's High Command, believing rebellion is necessary for survival. Fugaku considers the plan suicidal given the clan's remaining strength and his own poor standing among the membership. 1
Konoha's leadership works to preserve this isolation. During an investigation involving other clans, the Uchiha receive no assignment because the Third Hokage does not want them participating in a collective village operation. The clan is also subjected to further institutional pressure, including a Shimura-backed plan to remove its authority over Konoha's entrances and exits. 15 6
The clan's internal security is compromised by informants loyal to the Third Hokage. Shisui and Itachi monitor the clan, while the Hokage confirms that additional Uchiha have also secretly joined his side. 16 Fugaku later presents evidence exposing Shisui as an informant, devastating the elders; his revelation of a second Mangekyō Sharingan restores their confidence and consolidates his authority. 50 51
Under Fugaku, the clan develops secret assets beyond Konoha. A concealed forest base, protected by barriers and genjutsu, trains talented orphaned children gathered from across the ninja world as future subordinate forces. 153 Fugaku also deploys Spore Clones to covertly follow and protect nearly every clan member who leaves Konoha. 264
The clan becomes a target of the Underground Black Market, where Fugaku and several senior members receive high bounties. Investigation reveals that the Shimura Clan issued the bounties, prompting Uchiha retaliation. 154 159
Following Shisui's death and Itachi's exposure as an informant, Fugaku confines Itachi and removes his Mangekyō Sharingan. Sasuke awakens the Sharingan after witnessing his brother's condition, while the confiscated Mangekyō is transplanted into Number One Spore Clone to create a loyal Kage-level asset. 215 216 219 220
By the time Fugaku becomes Hokage, the Uchiha occupy a central position in Konoha's defense and political order. The clan remains closely involved in protecting the village during the Ōtsutsuki invasion, with Fugaku, Sasuke, and Uchiha-aligned forces forming part of Konoha's response. 324 363 364

Shisui and Itachi's Fall
Shisui attempts to use Kotoamatsukami to change Fugaku's will and is killed after a prolonged battle. Itachi then awakens the Mangekyō Sharingan, openly sides with Konoha over the clan, and is subdued, blinded, and imprisoned by Fugaku. 182 186 194 215 219
Rise to Konoha's Leading Clan
The appearance of multiple Mangekyō users, Fugaku's victories, and the deployment of Kage-level Spore Clone assets reshape public opinion. By the Chunin Exam period, civilians refer to the Uchiha as Konoha's number one clan. 220 231
Defense of the Shinobi World
With Fugaku as Hokage, the clan's members and forces support Konoha during conflicts with Akatsuki, Kara, and the Ōtsutsuki Clan. The clan becomes part of the village's core defense against Six Paths-level threats. 334 335 363 364
