And so, the journey to find Kiana ended before it even began, without a hitch.
Thinking back now, if I had chased after her, who knows, maybe I would have opened up a different timeline.
"A Li? Hello? Hello?"
A sharp cry brought Fu Li back to reality. He sniffed the air, catching the smell of burning, and shouted, "Uh oh!"
Then, he frantically started dealing with the burnt mess in the pot.
Observing Fu Li like this, Kiana frowned in dissatisfaction.
She asked in a cold, sharp voice with a vigilant tone, "Who was that woman?"
"That? Which one?"
"Who else could it be? The one you just mentioned!"
Fu Li, dumping the black gunk from the pot, thought for a moment before realizing she was referring to the kitten he had picked up and taken care of at the hotel.
He scrubbed the bottom of the pot, replying casually, "Just a little kitten with white fur and different colored eyes. What else could it be?"
Kiana snorted, "A cat? When you describe it, you use the feel of every inch of its skin? And say it's shapely?"
A woman's intuition is already quite accurate, and an idiot's intuition is terrifyingly precise.
Kiana's intuition told her that Fu Li wasn't talking about a cat at all; it was very likely, nine times out of ten, a woman!
Hahaha, seriously, who can relate? This big white cat is jealous of itself!
"I just wanted to make you jealous," Fu Li pouted, looking quite wronged. "You played with me like that just now, can't you at least let me get one over on you verbally?"
"Besides, why are you reacting so strongly to me taking another woman to the hotel?"
His delicate brows furrowed into a teasing shape as he teased, "Are you planning to give up on Mei and make a move on this high-quality potential stock like me? If so, I'll have to make a move on Mei."
The man made no attempt to hide his covetousness towards Mei, but Kiana couldn't tell how much of it was genuine at the moment.
"Dream on! Pfft!"
She spat out two words and turned to leave without looking back.
Fu Li didn't take it too seriously. She's just a young girl; her temper flares up quickly and disappears just as fast.
Once she's eaten and filled her stomach, this grasshopper would forget all about it.
As it turned out, Fu Li understood the girl Kiana Kaslana very well.
As soon as they sat down at the table, the white-haired girl regained her usual liveliness.
It was just a bit contrived how she deliberately played the feeding game with Mei at the table, giving him smug little glances after every bite, acting even more pleased with herself.
Fu Li silently sped up his eating.
Then the girl panicked. How could her slow, drawn-out feeding game compare to him transforming into a glutton and devouring everything?
If this continued, all the food would be gone before she even finished eating!
"You! Wait up!!!"
Kiana grabbed a plate and instantly refined her gluttonous path, shoveling food into her mouth like Fu Li, holding a plate.
Unfortunately, she still lost in the end. She was, after all, human and couldn't swallow plates whole like Fu Li, who was empowered by the Human Immortal Path.
After the meal, Kiana, having rinsed her mouth, squatted down next to Fu Li, who was lying on the ground.
Her slender fingers poked his bulging belly rhythmically, while the other hand propped up her chin. "Was it tasty to eat like that?"
"A qualified warrior cannot have food they cannot eat."
"Assuming porcelain can be considered food."
Kiana propped up her chin, then got up and ran to get a plate.
She took a bite with an "Awooo," and her bite force, comparable to a dinosaur's, easily shattered the thing into pieces.
The girl chewed for a moment.
"Pfft! Pfft! It's not tasty at all!"
"Don't waste it if you can't eat it."
"Oh, then you eat it."
Kiana handed over the remaining portion in her hand. Fu Li got up, took it, and popped it into his mouth.
After finishing, he called out, "Mei?"
Mei was sitting quietly on the sofa, lost in thought.
She started when she heard the call, "What is it?"
"Can you help me bring Bronya over?"
As Fu Li spoke, he shot Kiana a look of disappointment, as if blaming her for not guiding the girl properly while she was bathing.
Kiana retorted, I almost bled out from a nosebleed, and you blame me?
Mei easily picked up Bronya, who was small.
The three exchanged glances—
"Let's strip the duck first," Fu Li suggested.
"Agreed."
"Agreed."
The vote to de-escalate the threat passed unanimously.
"Then who will do it?"
"I will," Mei volunteered. "How do we do it?"
"First, remove the Star-stone Shield."
The girl did as she was told, dismantling Bronya's remaining five C-rank shields.
The girl showed no reaction, serene as a sleeping little angel.
"Damn rich snob!" Kiana grumbled from the side. She had saved up for a long time to get her hands on a Soth, and each of these shields cost more than a dozen mechanical dogs.
C-rank equipment was three to five times more expensive than D-rank, but defensive items were priceless and always inflated in price on the black market.
Fu Li couldn't stand it. "I'll give you one, so stop staring at her gear."
Kiana became unhappy. "You didn't say that when we stripped Susanna... Wait a minute! Is this little thing the woman you mentioned bringing back to the hotel to mess around with?!"
"What?" Mei's pupils dilated as she was stripping the duck's gear. What did she just hear?!
Fu Li looked quite speechless. "Look at this duck's head, where on her body is even remotely curvy?"
He stroked his chin, examining Bronya, whose chest was pressed against her back. The white-haired ball of fluff smiled. "That's true."
As she spoke, she proudly puffed out her own ample chest.
"Actually, it's only B."
"Shut up!"
Under Fu Li's careful guidance, Mei quickly dismantled the five priceless Star-stone Shields.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead and asked, "Then what?"
"Then dismantle the armor."
Bronya's legs were covered in a layer of advanced drive armor. At first glance, it seemed to be for helping her, who had difficulty walking, to move and float.
In reality, this girl's female hover relied entirely on the anti-gravity module of the Heavy-duty Rabbit. The leg armor's purpose was to deliver a painful blow to any unfortunate soul who thought her legs were weak.
Having weak legs did not mean she couldn't kick people. Bronya was a complete A-rank, with no shortcomings in close combat.
Removing the leg armor was more strenuous than the Star-stone Shields. Kiana lent a hand to help them get it all off.
After removing the leg armor, Kiana sneakily stuffed it into her Fourth-Dimensional Skirt. Fu Li rolled his eyes at the sight but said nothing.
Mei, with her sharp eyes, stopped her. "Wait a minute, Kiana!"
"Huh? Mei..." The white-haired ball of fluff looked wronged, realizing her chance for extra profit was gone.
"That's not what I meant," the girl shook her head. "Take that out first."
"Okay." Seeing her obediently take out the spoils of war, Mei walked over and indeed pulled out a familiar magnetic card.
"What is this?"
"ME Inc.'s highest-level access card," Mei smiled at Fu Li, who was asking. "With this, you can move freely within ME Inc. I used to have one too, which is why I recognized it."
It was less that she used to have one, and more that this was the one she had possessed in the past.
Noticing the complex smile the girl was trying hard to suppress, Fu Li fell silent for a moment. "Then put it away."
"Oh, okay." Kiana nodded and casually put the magnetic card in her pocket.
She was immediately met with Fu Li's cheek-pulling attack. "I meant for Mei to put it away!"
Mei quickly waved her hands. "It's fine, it's fine! Let Kiana keep it! It's not useful to me anymore anyway."
"See? Mei said it's fine!"
Kiana covered her flushed face and yelled, taking the keychain from her jacket pocket. She solemnly attached the magnetic card to it before carefully tucking it into her pocket for safekeeping.
"He who obtains this card shall rule ME Inc.!"
"If you can take down an organized Titan and drone unit, then ruling ME Inc. might not be out of the question."
"Well, then this young lady will have to grow a bit more..."
Fu Li wanted to tease her about dreaming, but the thought of this silly girl potentially becoming an S-rank expert in the future made him sigh that the heavens, much like Chinese people, favored beautiful girls with white hair.
"Keep dismantling it."
He said.
Kiana asked strangely, "Aren't we done dismantling everything?"
"Her clothes haven't been taken off yet."
Mei blinked in surprise, "So that previous statement wasn't an adjective for disarming you?"
"Yeah, but Bronya's gear hasn't been completely removed yet."
Fu Li lifted the little one's hem, pointing at her slender, moist, and delicate waist.
The moment his fingers, imbued with Honkai Energy, touched her skin, a silver-grey tight-fitting suit appeared in his vision, fully enclosing her tender young body from every angle.
He withdrew his hand. "There, it's this."
Kiana gasped, "What in the world is this thing!?"
She felt more and more that she and Bronya were from different worlds. Why did this girl have so many separate parts on her?
"Imperial Military Bio-Armor, an excellent C-rank individual combat weapon into which many Anti-Entropy scientists poured their blood and sweat. It also possesses four functions: personal terminal, camouflage mode, EMP generator, and remote control."
Fu Li stood up, leaving the space to the two girls. "I already removed the EMP generator and personal terminal when I knocked her out to block any potential signal emitting devices beneath her skin. You two can dismantle the rest."
"Signal emitting devices? That sounds really scary..."
Kiana smacked her lips, a sudden idea striking her. "A Li, A Li! This young lady has discovered a problem!"
