Background / History

Lefty began as a translucent green larva inside a falling spore. It was a slimy, worm-like creature roughly three centimeters long, with a cone-shaped head, a small tail, sensory tentacles, and faintly glowing fluid visible beneath its surface. Like other larvae, it needed to find a host quickly or weaken and dissolve into green liquid. 183

The larva attempted to enter Kurozawa's brain, but his Immortal Body rejected the invasion. Unable to take over its intended host, it merged with his left palm instead. Kurozawa deliberately allowed the risky process to continue, hoping that his left hand would evolve into a controllable Parasyte Body. 184 191

Its maturation was unusually slow because of the Immortal Body's resistance. Once mature, it rapidly learned to use a phone, read, search for information, and speak. It rejected the label “Parasyte,” preferring the term “Parasitic Organism,” and later received the nickname Lefty from Kurozawa. 192 193

Lefty initially functioned as Kurozawa's sole Parasyte Body. Kurozawa later fused it with Shinichi Izumi's Righty, producing a stronger new Lefty with the memories of both predecessors. It subsequently became the core of Kurozawa's expanding network of assimilated Parasitic Organisms. 222 227 240

Appearance

In its larval state, Lefty was a translucent green, worm-like organism with a large head, small tail, and small sensory tentacles. 183

While dormant, it resembles Kurozawa's ordinary left hand. In its active state, it can alter the hand into grotesque living weaponry.

Personality

Lefty's primary motivation is survival. During its infancy, it displayed fear and pleading behavior; after maturing and learning about human society, it became emotionally neutral, analytical, and deliberate. 192

Unlike many Parasitic Organisms, Lefty is deferential toward its host. It asks Kurozawa's permission before using his belongings, understands that Kurozawa can suppress or destroy its consciousness, and actively seeks to prove its usefulness. 193 200

It remains capable of the species' instinctive urge to kill humans, admitting this directly when questioned by Kurozawa. Its loyalty to Kurozawa nevertheless becomes increasingly apparent, including warning him when danger approaches and accepting roles such as transport and combat support. 198 228 240
