Purpose and Doctrine

The Corps exists to protect humans from man-eating Demons and eliminate Demons wherever possible. Its leader defines this duty as twofold: protect humanity and eradicate all Demons. 4 64 164

Breathing Techniques

Breathing Techniques enhance a human's physique toward superhuman limits and are the foundation of a swordsman's ability to contend with Demons. 2

Mount Fujikasane and Final Selection

Mount Fujikasane serves as both a Wisteria Flower prison and the Corps' standing Final Selection site. The Corps spent decades cultivating Wisteria around the mountain, then confined captured mid-to-low-level Demons there for study and trainee trials. 11

Headquarters and Security

History

The Corps was established by the Ubuyashiki family to oppose the Demon King and the Demons created under her influence. It continued this conflict across generations despite repeated losses among its swordsmen and Pillars. 66 164

Four centuries before the current era, the Corps came closest to success during the age of Yoriichi Tsugikuni and the Marked Swordsmen. As those swordsmen died from the Marks' side effects and no new Marks appeared, the organization declined. 60 155

Kurozawa Danryu's killing of fifty-three members of the Iguro Family led the Corps to investigate and discipline one of its own. Kocho Kanae was sent to confront him, but Kurozawa rejected the Corps' judgment and later withdrew from the organization. 63 64

After evidence emerged that Kurozawa had ties to Demons—including sightings of him wielding Pitch-Black Flames—the Corps investigated his possible transformation and summoned Sakonji Urokodaki for questioning. 85 86 133

When Kurozawa threatened Asakusa's population and demanded Kagaya Ubuyashiki's presence, the Corps gathered nearly six hundred swordsmen and four Pillars outside the city. Rather than wait for his deadline, Kagaya ordered a surprise assault to rescue captives and attempt to kill the Demon King. 141 163 164

The Asakusa operation became a devastating battle against the Demon King, Upper Moons, Lower Moons, and other Demons. Within minutes, the Corps suffered severe losses as its Pillars and swordsmen faced overwhelming opposition. 165

Ten years later, Demons no longer attacked humans indiscriminately, and the remaining swordsmen gradually lost the purpose that had sustained them. The Demon Slayer Corps disappeared entirely. 179
