Xyz Dimension.
The circular metal bulkheads glowed with a dim blue light as a jagged fissure suddenly split open at the center. Blood-red energy erupted from the rift like boiling magma, condensing in the vacuum into twisted, tentacle-like structures. Whenever those streams of energy touched the bulkheads, they produced a metallic hiss like melting steel, then reassembled midair into a vortex that endlessly deconstructed and reformed. Deep within it, the outline of a humanoid figure could vaguely be seen taking shape. Whenever it tried to break free from the energy's restraints, a piercing resonance like shattering glass rang throughout the space.
Dr. Fika faced the bloody vortex, his expression grave.
"I still don't think this is a good idea," Mr. Heart City said timidly at the side. "Kaito has already recovered enough to get out of bed. Maybe we should send Kaito again first—"
"No. Kaito has already done enough."
Without taking his eyes off the transmission vortex before him, Dr. Fika said,
"Once I go through, shut down the transmission and wait for my signal. If anything goes wrong, cut off the passage."
Mr. Heart City said nothing more and merely nodded. "I understand."
Faker took a deep breath and walked toward the enormous vortex.
A dark space. Absolute nothingness.
This void was like a corner forgotten by God, where all physical laws had become loose ends of thread. When one stepped across the web-like black mist, there came a crack like thin ice breaking beneath one's feet, after which the mist writhed like a living thing to fill the gaps. Several floating platforms in the distance still dripped with some viscous darkness from their edges, trailing spider-silk streaks of light through the void.
This was Darkness's domain.
"Your allies are useless."
