Amon Garlem recorded the voyage of five passengers heading to Duel Academy and reflected on the island’s reputation as the King’s forbidden domain. As the ship neared the island, he wondered whether its legends were true.

• Amon followed a corridor that transformed into a luxurious hallway and saw his younger self beside Sid's life-support bed.
• A voice urged Amon to kill Sid so he could become king, revealing the darkness in his heart.
• The vision vanished, and Amon found himself facing Fujiki Kira.

Amon investigated the Abandoned Dorm and challenged Kira to a duel after Kira said the vision Amon saw had come from his own Inner Darkness. Amon and Kira began their duel, and Kira summoned Jinzo - Psychic Shockwave.

• Amon confronted Kira at the Abandoned Dorm, believing it concealed the source of the Duel King's Dark Power.

When Kira and Amon returned to the Abandoned Dorm, Amon shocked Ai Ke and the soldiers by calling Kira his lord.

At Duel Academy’s opening ceremony, Saotome Rei gave the freshman oath and representatives from other branches appeared, but Northern Branch’s Johan Andersen failed to arrive.

• Saotome Rei equipped Maiden in Love with Little Cupid’s Kiss, took control of Black Magic Refiner after taking battle damage, and ended her turn with two cards set.
• Kira summoned Magical Power Guide, activated Graceful Charity and Magical Power Mastery, and used Advanced Ritual Art to Ritual Summon Relinquished.
