Tang Sanzang and Sun Wuxia manipulated the pilgrimage’s trials to destroy the Jietian Sect, then defeated the Great Peng King and feasted on his flesh. Their journey brought them together with Ji Bochang and Ren Xiaoyao, revealing that two Moon Embracing Sects shared a distant history and setting up their reunion.

• Tang Sanzang and Sun Wuxia recruited allies to attack the Jietian Sect, and Lin Fan helped destroy it and kill its Sect Master.
• Lin Fan strengthened the Moon Embracing Sect by supplying pills to the Four Great Walls while Tang Sanzang’s party continued westward.
