Transfiguration Class

After the commotion at breakfast subsided, the three of them went straight to the Alchemy classroom. The two who had gone on a night out together the night before did not, unusually, pull Kayson to sit at the front, but instead found a spot in the back to catch up on sleep.

After all, there weren't many people in the classroom, only a cat on the podium. So what if it takes a nap? It's not class time yet.

Soon, more and more students filled the classroom, but Kayson and his two companions were still fast asleep. It was only when a loud, startled cry woke them up.

When Kayson and his two friends, who were sitting at the very back, looked up, nothing had happened, but Professor McGonagall had already entered the classroom.

Okay, we can start the lesson now.

Half an hour later...

The Transfiguration class classroom was filled with chalk dust. Professor McGonagall tapped the blackboard with the tip of her wand, sending a shower of sparks flying. "Remember! The core of Transfiguration is willpower! Clear imagination! Unwavering..."

At this point, Kayson's hat started to look messy.

The matchsticks from the Transfiguration Needle were distributed to everyone early on, but he was somewhat embarrassed...

Hmm.

I understand the theory, but the practice...

He doesn't know anything about magic.

[ Kayson's bitter smile.]

Professor McGonagall also noticed the suspicious noises coming from the back of the classroom.

She looked up and saw Kayson staring at the matchstick on the table, his face turning purple.

If she Legilimency, she might be able to see a high-definition 4K loop of a holographic projection of a match turning into a needle playing in his mind: the cold metallic light, the sharp glint of the needle tip, the rounded end...

However, there was nothing there.

As the tip of Kayson's wand flashed, the matchstick emitted a wisp of smoke and wilted.

"Mr. Heath," Professor McGonagall's voice was like an icicle piercing him, "The end of the match is made of red phosphorus. If your magic has even the slightest problem, it will catch fire."

Amidst the laughter, Kayson scratched his head somewhat awkwardly, then continued poking at the matchsticks.

Pfft.

This time, a matchstick spontaneously combusted on his desk. A plume of smoke rose into the sky.

James, sitting diagonally in front of him, was trembling with suppressed laughter. With a flick of his wand, his matchstick suddenly transformed into a half-meter-long iron spike, smashing Peter's ink bottle flat. Professor McGonagall's lips twitched, and she deducted ten points from Gryffindor.

"You still have the nerve to laugh? You've turned a matchstick into the Ruyi Jingu Bang iron pillar." Kayson murmured softly.

"Willpower! Mr. Heath!" Professor McGonagall's high heels clattered as she landed on his desk. "What's on your mind?"

"Reporting, Professor," Kayson said, raising his dark wand, "I want a needle."

"The needle won't smoke!"

"Perhaps... it wants to have its own ideals?"

Professor McGonagall pressed her lips into a pale line. Suddenly, she drew her wand and struck the match. The silver needle stood firmly in front of Kayson's nose, with a pixelated cotton thread still attached to the end of the needle.

"Study after class." She poked Kayson in the chest with the tip of her wand. "If you can't practice, don't leave this room."

???

The empty classroom was filled only with chalk dust swirling in the beam of light. Kayson poked at the pile of dead matches on the table and sighed helplessly.

Just then, a note from Snape drifted slowly in through the window.

Lily has fainted from low blood sugar three times already; if you don't come out, you won't find a single grain of rice in the kitchen.

The idea that Lily has low blood sugar is pure nonsense. He can tell when she's joking, but when there's nothing to eat in the kitchen...

Since the kitchen is close to Hufflepuff, this is indeed a possibility.

At that moment, Kayson grabbed a match, and an idea flashed into his mind like lightning. If I can't turn it into a needle, I'll make one!

Snape and Lily, on the other side, were about to enter the classroom to help Kayson when they saw Professor McGonagall walking towards them from a distance, which startled them so much that they immediately stopped in their tracks.

Inside the classroom, silver pixel streams flowed from Kayson's palm.

Silver metal molecules flooded the match like a torrent, instantly replacing, compressing, and reshaping the wood fibers! At the microscopic level, the wood cells wailed as they were replaced by the iron filings.

Click!

After a soft click, a silver needle lay in Kayson's palm, its tail still retaining the wood grain disguise, while its tip gleamed with the cold light of cheating.

The door was opened.

"Professor! I did it!" Kayson raised the needle and quietly wiped away the half-grain of pixelated iron residue stuck to the end of the needle with his pinky finger.

Professor McGonagall picked up the needle, her glasses reflecting a cold light. The needle tip grazed her fingernail, leaving a mark.

"What about the tail hole?" she suddenly asked.

???

When making needles, all you think about is the shape of the needle; who remembers the thread hole in a fart!

Professor McGonagall pressed the tip of her wand against the needle. Kayson heard a wail that sounded like rotting flesh.

The tip of the cane poked a perfectly round hole.

"Crude," Professor McGonagall tossed the needle back onto the table. "But you pass." She put her hands on her hips. "You have good talent, but why can't you master Transfiguration? Do you have a problem with me?"

Kayson quickly shook his head.

"If you have any opinions or misunderstandings, you can tell me, and I will explain them to you." Professor McGonagall nodded. Although she could tell that Kayson was not lying, she still said it.

After Kayson left the classroom, Snape and Lily hurried over.

"We heard that the needle's end had no hole!" Lily gasped as she ran. "Did Professor McGonagall discover that?"

"She poked one for me." Kayson pulled the needle out of his bag. " Professor McGonagall is still kind."

Professor McGonagall then came out of the classroom. "Go eat quickly, or you'll probably be hungry tonight."

With that, Professor McGonagall walked toward the end of the corridor, her footsteps disappearing at the top of the stairs.

"How did you finally succeed? You just couldn't learn it in the Transfiguration class," Snape asked.

Kayson opened his palm, revealing the bright silver needle in his hand. However, as the iron elements he controlled dissipated, the needle transformed back into the small wooden stick.

"The needle... was it faked by you?" Lily's eyes widened.

"Pretty much. I don't have the ability to turn a stick into a needle, but I do have the ability to use iron to replace the elements in a stick," Kayson said smugly.

"What if Professor McGonagall makes us Transfiguration something else in the future?" Lily then asked.

"Then I'll have to completely abandon the basic Transfiguration items. I can just make a new one." As Kayson spoke, another piece of iron emerged from his hand, eventually transforming into a small Iron Golem.

Through a gap in the curtains at the end of the corridor, Heath's eyes precisely locked onto the small Iron Golem in Kayson's hand, which slowly transformed back into an ordinary Iron Ingot.

Heath restored his vision to normal human focus. " Slughorn is unreliable. Looks like I'll have to find a way to get him to become my apprentice..."
